Given the recent developments around COVID-19, we’ve decided to postpone all gallery, preforming and visual arts events and classes until further notice. While our desire is to provide you with a space that promotes arts and culture, our top priority is the health and well-being of our community. If you have already registered for a class that is affected, please standby for a new event/class start time. If you are unable to attend on the new date for any reason, we will pro...vide you with a full refund. To stay up-to-date on all upcoming classes, please register for our bi-weekly newsletter at www.savannahga.gov/arts. If you have any questions or concerns, please call 912.651.6783. We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding during this time.

Turn the ghost lihtg on before you leave! A ghost light is a small, single-bulb floor lamp left shining after the theater is closed. Tradition says this allows spirits to see or even ‘’perform’’ on stage once everyone has left. A more practical reason today is to leave it on for safety when opening up and closing a pitch-black theatre. #savannahculturalarts

At-Home Activity: Character Development! Before an actor steps onto a stage or in front of a camera, they learn their character inside and out. One way of doing this is developing a backstory. Just in time for Halloween, try out this technique with your costume! Find the full instruction sheet at: www.savannahga.gov/1041/Classes-Workshops #savannahculturalarts #artathome

For National Arts and Humanities Month’s #ArtsCreateHope, we are sharing this piece from local artist Sharon Norwood, Serving up those Savannah Grey's. This piece will be featured in The Return, the first show our gallery will host after our reopening. The Return will feature a collection of works created by artists during 2020’s pandemic and global protests. From the artist: Savannah Grey bricks were created by enslaved humans in Savannah and while they are now sought after and lauded for their historic significance, little is noted about the individual artisans who forged them. Norwood asks us to contemplate the erasure of African American contributions in a country built on a foundation of slave labor. #savannahculturalarts #NAHM
