2 lost souls, 2 men who belong to someone. So tired, not just physically but mentally as well. The sign on the wall says Fear is a Liar and that it is. One trying to navigate the disability process to no avail, the other just hot, tired and hungry. For this moment, they rest. No judgement, no questions. Just rest!

14 beds means 14 sets of sheets, 14 comforters, 14 pillows and on and on. Our comforters are starting to show wear and tear after a year of use and hundreds of washes. We'd like to replace them with this - https://www.amazon.com/Bedsure-Quilt-Black-68//ref=sr_1_6. You can order from this link and have it shipped to us! At this time, we are only needing this item for the beds. Total number needed is 14. These are for TWIN beds! Our address is 186 Cornerstone Dr - Brunswick 31523

The last 48 have been emotionally and mentally draining. I will never understand addiction and the hold it has on our guys. One of our guys left to go to rehab today and his final message was "thank you for showing me Jesus ". There are days that are hard, discouraging, days we wonder if we do or say the right things. We strive to be the light in the darkness, the darkness of addiction. The darkness of mental illness. You guys are always so encouraging and so supportive of what we do. We appreciate all of you!

Our guys need prayer, they need help, they need love. We try to provide all those things but in the end it's left up to them.

"My 4- year old daughter has been my driving force to keep me focused." "She is talking now and wants to spend time with her daddy." "I knew I needed a safe and stable place to bring my little girl to."... Today as we get ready to leave the office our hearts are full. We were able to walk with "R" as he transitioned from being homeless to going home. For the last 30 days he has stayed in our shelter and worked and saved to be able to make today possible. Today he has the keys to a place HE is paying for & that is huge for him. We are so very proud of him! As he leaves, he will need many things. We have given him a voucher to hello Goodbuy but we know he wants to decorate his little girl's room for her. His "new to him" place needs everything except a stove and refrigerator. If you have something to donate let us know and we will get back with you. Thank you for your financial support. Thank you for your donations. Thank you for helping us Restore hope to those in need. Without you, this is not possible, so thank you!!! #SavedByGrace #HomelessToHome #RestoringHopeOneLifeAtATime #TwoGirlsOnAMission

Well this was a new experience for me. Drove to another county this morning to meet with a guy looking for shelter upon release. As I waited in the visitor room, I thought of all those that are there. Brokenness, hopelessness, abandonment, loneliness I can’t imagine. Everyone with their own story. Today, we were able to restore hope,, one life at a time.

We are looking for someone to come to the shelter to do haircuts for our guys. So many of them need it! If you are interested in volunteering your time, let us know! Ideally, it would be one Saturday a month.

"A setback is not your enemy, it's your teacher". Heard this on the radio this morning. So many of our people feel defeated, hopeless. Many of them have tried and tried and for whatever reason, just can't seem to make it work. Our goal is to focus on the positive and not the negative of those that walk through our doors. A lesson can be learned from every trial we go through. Every encounter will end with "Give me one thing you are thankful for". This week, all 11 of ...our guys have work! Praise God!!! After receiving a message from a local resident this work saying he had some work for one of our guys, we received this glowing review of his day: "Fantastic!! He listens and follows instructions well. I left him alone all day but popped by 3-4 times throughout the day and each time he was working. (A surefire test). If you leave them alone and every time you check they’re on their phone or smoking then they’re not working. " Our guys are not perfect and they all struggle - we appreciate those who will give our guys an opportunity.

I know it's been a while since Find A Friend Friday, but this morning I decided to do something different. I went through a local drive thru and asked for 12 breakfast biscuits, a mix of whatever they had. I grabbed the bags and headed for our shelter. As I pulled up, 4 of our guys were outside. One had just arrived at our shelter yesterday. One needed a ride to work. One needed help filing his taxes. Others are looking for work. It is our goal to be able to provide ...transportation to work to those in our shelter. We have no public transportation here so it makes it challenging for those who need and want to work. Not all places are within walking distance of the shelter. Right now, transportation is our biggest barrier. We know that God will meet this need, in His time, not ours. As I pulled into the shelter, this song played - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTvv-9zosPs

About 2 Find A Friend Fridays ago, I found "J", sitting here. I had met him the day before and had encouraged him to come down and shower and get something to eat. He declined, but when I gave him breakfast on Friday morning, he accepted and eventually came down to our office. He has stayed with us since that day. Some of you have provided hot meals to our guys in the shelter and he is one of the recipients. He talked about how awesome the meals were and how thankful he ...was for them. All of you guys make a difference in the lives of those we serve, whether it's through food donations, clothing donations or monetary donations. Today "J' leaves us to go back home (Tennessee) and see his family that he hasn't seen in a long time. His father is ill and his mama wants to see her boy. This morning, he will board a Greyhound for the 18 hour bus ride home. Please pray for "J". We hope to see him again one day. Until then...... Are you disappointed Are you desperate for help You know what it's like to be tired And only a shell of yourself Well you start to believe You don't have what it takes 'Cause it's all you can do Just to move much less finish the race But don't forget what lies ahead Almost home Brother it won't be long Soon all your burdens will be gone With all your strength Sister run wild, run free Hold up your head Keep pressing on We are almost home Well this road will be hard But we win in the end Simply because of Jesus in us It's not if but when So take joy in the journey Even when it feels long Oh find strength in each step Knowing heaven is cheering you on We are almost home Brother it won't be long Soon all your burdens will be gone With all your strength Sister run wild,

It always surprises me when someone turns down a free breakfast to give it to someone who needs it more than they do. This morning, I purchased a breakfast meal with coffee and headed out. Went to all of the normal stops and didn't see anyone. My last drive through was at a local motel. As I drove around the back, I spotted a gentleman who was taking out his trash. I pulled up next to him, rolled down the window and asked if he'd like breakfast. He reached out to take i...t and then looked at me and said while pointing to a van, take it over there, they need it more than I do. I pulled up next to the van and got out of the car. There stood a guy working to piece a bicycle together. As I looked inside of the van, I saw her! "S" had just been in our office yesterday with another girl. As I called her name, she looked at me. I saw a girl bound by chains of addiction. I asked had she slept there in the van last night and she said yes. She took the bag with the breakfast and we chatted for a while. "S" is a mom, a daughter, a granddaughter. "S" needs help, she needs to know she is worthy. Worth more than what she allows herself to be. Today, if you have a moment, please say a prayer for "S". We will continue to reach out to her and let her know that when she is ready for help, we are here. #chainbreaker #savedbygrace #youareworthy See more

Lie number 1 you're supposed to have it all together And when they ask how you're doing Just smile and tell them, "Never better" Lie number 2 everybody's life is perfect except yours So keep your messes and your wounds... And your secrets safe with you behind closed doors Truth be told The truth is rarely told As I sit here writing this story, my heart breaks. Each day, we see broken people, hear stories of despair and hopelessness. Each person that walks through our door is a human being trying to hold it together, To be completely honest, I am trying to hold it together today. The days are hard and long. The clients soar and succeed & they disappoint. At the end of the day, we are all imperfectly created by a God that loves us ALL, despite our shortcomings or past. As for Maria & I we are so proud to have this passion & our calling. We neither one can see ourselves doing anything else with our lives. The least of these are our people & we love them. I found this verse and felt it was appropriate for today & every day. We will continue to speak up for those we love, those we serve and protect. Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy Proverbs 31:8-9 NIV #SavedByGrace #TwoGirlsOnAMission #TheLeastOfThese #TheBrokenOnes #MatthewWest

Find A Friend Friday! This morning, I met "J" for the 2nd time - sitting on a sidewalk off of the highway, I spotted him. I actually met him yesterday morning and encouraged him to come down and get a shower. This morning, he looked so tired, so beat down. He was so thankful for the coffee. Again, I encouraged him to come down to the office today to get a shower, eat and possibly occupy a bed for the weekend. I asked did he have anything with him and he said "no ma'am, ...just what I have on". We all have causes that we are passionate about - pets, justice, children, the elderly, etc. For us at Saved By Grace, we are passionate about the homeless, the forgotten, those not seen by others. Almost 4 years ago, we SAW those around us, those less fortunate. Those that are judged by others. Instead of the needle marks and dirt, we see a HUMAN, someone's son, daughter, father or mother. May we never lose sight of them and may our compassion never lessen for them. November is Homelessness Awareness Month. We will be posting more stories, more photos of those in our community that are homeless. Today, when you see that someone, remember it could be YOU or one of your family members. We are thankful for all of you. Your donations keep us going day to day. #itcouldbeyou #somebodyssomeone
