Savannah State University classes will resume Monday, October 17, 2016, at 8 a.m. Campus will reopen to employees TODAY, October 13. All university employees s...hould report at the appropriate shift. Residential students may begin returning after 4 p.m. on Friday, October 14, 2016. The SSU administration is grateful to the parents, faculty, staff, alumni and friends for their understanding and support during the hurricane. We extend special thanks to the University System of Georgia, Fort Valley State University, Georgia State University, and Georgia College and State University for assisting in the evacuation of campus. Georgia Power officials recently informed administrators that damage to lines and other equipment in the SSU area is significant. As such, classes are cancelled... for the week. Savannah State University’s Emergency Response and Planning Team has been meeting and planning for the potential storm heading toward Southeastern Georgia. The ...university has contacted the University System institution that is our evacuation site and they are preparing for our arrival in the event evacuation is necessary. The university will provide transportation for residential students and support staff.
