The Rome City Commission is ordering residents to shelter in place within their homes unless for essential activities, government functions or to operate essential businesses. The Floyd County Commission is expected to discuss the order at its meeting Tuesday evening with a possible vote coming afterward. The city’s order goes into effect Tuesday at 5 p.m. and lasts until 11:59 p.m. on April 7. It can be extended by the city commission based on the situation at that time.... https://www.northwestgeorgianews.com//article_3a78af22-6d2

The Treasury Department and the Internal Revenue Service are providing special tax filing and payment relief to individuals and businesses in response to the COVID-19 Outbreak. The 2019 income tax filing and payment deadlines for all taxpayers who file and pay their Federal income taxes on April 15, 2020, are automatically extended until July 15, 2020. This relief applies to all individual returns, trusts, and corporations. This relief is automatic, taxpayers do not need to f...ile any additional forms or call the IRS to qualify. This relief also includes estimated tax payments for tax year 2020 that are due on April 15, 2020. Penalties and interest will begin to accrue on any remaining unpaid balances as of July 16, 2020. You will automatically avoid interest and penalties on the taxes paid by July 15. The GA Department of Revenue will honor these extensions and Governor Kemp stated in his briefing yesterday that more information will be available in the coming days Please contact our offices at 706-291-1248 if you have questions or still need to file a return for 2019 so we can discuss the options we have available.

If you are a Georgia business owner you may submit employer filed claims for full and part-time employees who are temporarily laid off or whose hours have been temporarily reduced because of a lack of work due to COVID-19. Your employees must be expected to return to work when the COVID-19 emergency ends and they must also be United States citizens or non-citizens who are authorized to work in the U.S. There is more information on the GA DOL's website: https://dol.georgia.gov//new-information-filing-unemployme The second PDF link "How Employers File Partial Claims" has the information you will need to file online given that the agency has suspended all face-to-face meetings.
