Please consider voting for my practice for "Best Ophthalmologist" in Savannah Magazine's 2021 survey. There is only one day left for the voting. We have been lucky enough to be recognized as "Best Ophthalmologist" for the last four years running and we would like to make it five! https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/bestofdoctors2021

Thanks to the nurses and staff at Candler Hospital, I was fortunate to receive my second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine this morning. This is a medical miracle for which we should all be grateful. I look forward to the time when everyone is vaccinated so we can all get back to normal.

I was honored to be recognized in @SouthMagazine’s article on physicians. As usual, Daisy stars in the photograph. Here’s a link to the article: https://www.southmag.com/2021-souths-greatest-doctors-dr-r/

The Schulze Eye team is looking forward to seeing you when we open on a limited basis for regular visits next week. For your safety, we’ll ask you to wear a mask during all your visits, as we will too. Our ORs are fully stocked and ready to go. We look forward to seeing the smile in your eyes after your #cataract or #LASIK procedure!

Thanks to South Magazine for featuring our practice in the Faces of the South issue out just this month. Working with their writers and photographers was a terrific experience. #SouthMagazine

I was honored to be recognized as one of the physicians in South Magazine’s "Faces of the South" issue just released this month. When they told me they wanted to take my picture, I insisted that Daisy be a part of it, since, after all, she is much more photogenic than I!

3/25/2020 To All of Our Patients and Family Members, In light of the recent order from the City of Savannah to "shelter in place," we have decided to do our part by canceling regularly scheduled appointments and limiting our clinic to... emergencies only seen between 10 AM and noon during weekdays. We are adopting the following protocol with the hope of maintaining that safety and promote social distancing. We are requiring that ALL patients with a scheduled appointment of any type enter the building unaccompanied unless you are a patient whose physical limitations require an adult companion. We are attempting to space out appointments to ensure minimal patient to patient contact and to give us ample time to clean all surfaces in between patients. Please arrive at your appointment ON TIME. Patients arriving 10 or more minutes prior to their appointment may be asked to wait outside our office, and late patients may be asked to reschedule. Our lobby chairs are reduced so that they can be spaced away from other patients. If you are more comfortable being brought to a room to wait for a doctor, or if you wish to be called when a room is available instead of sitting in our office, please let our staff know upon check in. We will do our best to accommodate every patient. If you have any respiratory symptoms (fever, cough, shortness of breath) and have been in close contact with a person known to have COVID-19 OR have recently traveled from an area with widespread or ongoing community spread of COVID-19 please DO NOT come to the office. Please contact your primary care provider. We ask that you maintain patience with us, as we endeavor to make sure all staff and patients are cared for. We wish you and your family both health and safety in these unprecedented times.

Following CDC and American Academy of Ophthalmology guidelines we have decided to close our Eye and Surgery Center to do our part to help flatten the curve and minimize spread of the disease at this critical juncture. Our priorities remain the same of keeping our patients and staff safe. While we will be closed to routine visits and elective surgeries, we will offer emergency hours from 10am-12pm Monday thru Friday. If you feel you have an ophthalmic emergency please call our office prior to coming in so that we can ensure you will be seen by the appropriate personnel. Once we are able to reopen safely we will call to reschedule your appointments. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to call our office.

Thanks to our friends at Savannah Magazine for dispelling much of the hype surrounding blue blocking lenses. Sound advice also from my colleagues Dr. William Pearce and Dr. Ed Sammons.

One of my clinical photographs made the cover of this month's EyeNet magazine, the trade journal for the American Academy of Ophthalmology. The image is a picture of an eye that had radial keratotomy over 30 years ago by another surgeon. The patient was referred to me for cataract surgery.
