Warmest congratulations to CSU graduate, Hannah Moran! -- Hannah earned her Bachelor's Degree of Music in Education -- She studied oboe with Dr. Susan Tomkiewicz and music education with Dr. Keith Matthews and Dr. Michelle Folta -- Hometown: Lawrenceville, Georgia... Hannah will be moving to Tallahassee, Florida in August to begin her master's degree in music therapy. Her advice: "Do everything you can to get involved, take charge of your own education, and make the most of the resources and opportunities you have in your grasp. Congratulations to CSU graduate, Yunona Tabala! -- Yunona graduated with her Artist Diploma in Vocal Performance -- Studied voice with Dr. Joshua May -- From Saint-Petersburg, Russia... This fall Yunona will be moving up to Boston, MA to pursue her M.M. in Vocal Performance at Longy School of Music at Bard College, in the studio of Dr. Dana Lynne Varga. Congratulations to our eleven Schwob School of Music Voice Area students that have been selected to compete as national semi-finalists in both the musical theatre and classical divisions of the 2021 Classical Singer Competition! Alison Badgett, Mary Claire Buchanan, Yunona Tabala, Kayla Elzie, Sophia Jacobs, Hannah Wikaryasz, Rachel Ward, Amaan Atkins, Grace Rivord, Brenda Jean Hamilton, and Keyla Nuñez will present opera arias, art songs, and musical theatre selections in the competition at the end of May. Congratulations to CSU and Schwob graduate, Fallon Lowery! -- Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education -- Studied clarinet with Dr. Lisa Oberlander and music education with Dr. Keith Matthews and Dr. Michelle Folta -- Hometown: Columbus, GA... Fallon will start her first year of teaching as an elementary music teacher at Dimon Magnet Academy for the 2021-2022 school year. Her advice to first year Schwob students is, "Remember to take care of yourself and find healthy ways to redirect stress, especially during stressful times of the semester! Have one day a week where you hang out with friends/family, play video games, whatever helps you alleviate your stress and give yourself a break!" #csu21grad

Brava and congratulations to CSU graduate, Hanna Hrybkova! -- Hanna graduated with her Bachelor of Music Degree in Performance -- She is a student of Professor Sergiu Schwartz, The William B. and Sue Marie Turner Distinguished Chair in Violin -- From Minsk, Belarus... In the Fall, Hanna will begin her graduate studies at the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music. A piece of advice for incoming students: Take every opportunity life gives you to grow as a person and as a musician. Congratulations, Molli McGinnis! -- Molli graduated this past weekend with a B.M. in Music Education with Honors Seal -- She studied bassoon with Dr. Stephanie Patterson and music education with Dr. Keith Matthews and Dr. Michelle Folta -- From Danielsville, GA... Molli has accepted a middle school choir position in Muscogee County for the next school year and her advice is: "Learn how to say no and slow down. The world may feel like it’s going to run off and leave you, but moving at your own pace can earn patience and respect from those around you. You are not always obligated to do everything asked of you." #csu21grad

Black Schwob Society and Uptown Columbus Present: Bringing Schwob to the Street! We’re back! This event, in collaboration with Uptown Columbus, will be a public... performance on Broadway by Schwob School of Music's musicians. Due to COVID-19, a lot of musicians have not been able to perform for an audience in months. Contrarily, many families have not gotten the chance to enjoy live music! Bringing Schwob to the Street is BSS's way of solving both problems. On Friday, October 30th from 6:00pm - 8:00pm, Black Schwob Society will have tents set up in multiple locations through Broadway, where we will hear many groups of performers. There will be many different genres of music and instruments on display! This is a charitable event, so we will have tip jars at each location. Please bring your families and friends out to hear some great live music THIS Friday, October 30th!
