I know many teachers and camp directors who are returning to face-to-face instruction. We began COVID camps this summer and this video is intended to assist their decisions about how to best arrange their physical spaces and the movement of students/campers. Our Science of Fun families may also find it informative. Many (virtual) hugs and well-wishes to those who care for and teach our kids; hang in there. https://youtu.be/pBZyOn9Ti5E

Science of Fun Summer camp May 27, 2020 update Science of Fun families, The last day of school was bittersweet this year. Picnics, parades, and field days were replaced by Zoom parties and small celebrations at home. I know that for parents, teachers, and students alike this school year was more stressful and challenging than we ever could have imagined....Continue reading
Where do we go from here? - https://mailchi.mp/scienceoffun/where-do-we-go-from-here Please take this very brief survey and share your ideas about summer camp formats.
Families, One thing is consistent during this pandemic; it’s hard to predict. I am not one to embrace uncertainty; I am a planner by nature. Each week, I reflect on the previous week and I find that the landscape has changed beneath our feet. As Georgia begins to re-open I have one burning question, Will the pandemic get better, or will it get worse? We just don’t know. We are closely watching the data and keeping up with research from the CDC and Georgia Department of Pu...blic Health. Even though Governor Kemp has decided that summer camps can operate, we don’t yet see data that would allow us to feel safe opening in-person camps in early June. However, we are cautiously optimistic that this could change over the remainder of the summer. Thank you for your feedback on the summer camp survey; it greatly aids us as we continue to plan (please take the brief, five-question survey click here). We’d like to hear your ideas about virtual camps, camps-in-a-box, and potential in-person camps. We love our families and miss the kids dearly. We will keep you posted as our final decisions emerge, likely 2-3 weeks ahead of each date. Please be patient as we contact families one session at a time, starting with the beginning of June. We will contact everyone! If we develop a camp that is a good match for you, you are welcome to join us even if you previously decided to cancel or reschedule. We understand the critical role that we play in the community as an afterschool enrichment program and camp. We are honored that you entrust us with your children’s well-being and we take that responsibility with the weight that it deserves. It is our joy to care for your children simply put, we believe that science makes the world better. Here are a few of the resources we check daily: https://dph.georgia.gov/ Georgia Department of Public Health https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html Centers for Disease Control and Prevention https://www.facebook.com/AmberSchmidtkePhD/ another favorite resource Please continue to check our website for updates as we continue to develop our summer plans (and contingency plans). -Kris and the SOF Team P.S. This email is sent to all families who originally enrolled in summer camp, even if you have canceled or changed.
Finally completed this holiday gift puzzle!
Summer camps are on, virtually! - https://mailchi.mp/scienceoff/summer-camps-are-on-virtually COVID-19 may have burst our bubble but we're on- virtually! We'd love to see our campers in person but we can have the next best thing! Our full-day camps will be live-moderated and supervised by the Science of Fun staff! We have amazing staff and certified teachers who thrive in this virtual environment and know how to engage your kids.
May the 4th be with you!!! Join our Paideia friend, Scientist Diana Lockwood with a secret message lab!
One of our favorite things to do is visit our local schools and show them that science is fun! We can't wait to go back to Winnona Park Elementary School PTA, Decatur, GA and see our young friends!
