Good Thursday Friends..!! We want to present to you to a challenge facing our community, and introduce you to what we believe is a significant contribution... to the solution! Sadly, there are many children in our county that begin their first day of public education having very little (if any) exposure to books. Can you imagine the deficit these future leaders are facing before they even get started?? My wife Stephanie has initiated a partnership with "Ferst Readers" to form a Walker County based initiative called "Ferst Readers of Walker County". This program will place one book (at no cost) each month into the household of a child most in need of our love and support. This program will be funded by private donations. The cost per child is $36 per year and we have over 1,000 children between the age of 0 and 5 years old. This is Walker County alone! We thank you for your amazing support of LEQ chatitable events and are excited to announce that "Ferst Readers of Walker County" will be the beneficiary of several of our upcoming events. The first event is this Saturday August 8 at the Civic Center Pavilion, where the Walker County GOP is hosting a rally and candidate forum. The event will begin at 10am and end at noon. For those of you that want the BBQ but can't make the rally, we will stay around for an hour or so after the event (or until the Q is all consumed) There will be detailed information from "Ferst Readers" and sign up opportunity for you kind souled carnivores out there.
