Now, more than ever, we need help containing the recent surge in cases of Covid-19. If you have had Covid-19 and have successfully fully recovered, you can help make a difference. Please consider donating plasma donations to Atlanta Blood Services to help current patients fight this virus. Please consider helping those in need and making a difference this holiday season!
An important reminder for who individuals who may be particularly vulnerable at this time of year. Make sure to talk to your doctor about the best way to protect yourself from the flu and Covid-19 this winter.
A very Happy Hanukkah to our doctors, patients, staff and friends who are celebrating today.
#November is #PancreaticCancer Awareness Month, and we're saddened to hear of the passing of the legendary Alex Trebek. His pancreatic cancer diagnosis saddened a nation, who for years have tuned into Jeopardy nightly. Even in turbulent times, it is important to remember that our struggles can be an inspiration to those around us, and help others cope with their own struggles. Alex was an inspiration to many who have faced this battle, and their families, and provided hope through his positivity and resilience. https://www.washingtonpost.com//when-pancreatic-cancer-de/

We all know that breast cancer awareness starts with our own self awareness. But, it can be difficult to know what to do and how to track our own breast health. One of the best things to do is to perform a breast self-exam once a month. You should complete the exam in three parts: in the shower, lying down, and in front of a mirror. In the shower, it’s advised you move your fingers around the area, touching the entire breast and armpit throughout. If you feel any lumps or kn...ots, report to your physician immediately. When you are in front of a mirror, raise your arms high above your head and visually inspect your breasts and the surrounding area. Look for any changes in coloration or skin, such as changes around the nipple or dimples and puckers. When you are lying down, move the pads of your fingers over the area in a slow, rolling motion to feel for any bumps, lumps, or knots. With any questionable areas or noticeable changes, it is advised to seek the help and advice of a professional. Do not wait, early detection is key.
It is clear that food can be a great way to nourish our bodies and minds during #cancer treatment and recovery. But did you know that the kinds of food you are eating can make a big impact on how you experience the side effects of treatment and how you recover from the stress of chemo? The #NationalBreastCancerFoundation has created a FREE Ebook on nutritional guidance and information for breast cancer patients. Download it here: https://bit.ly/35FRVIM for free recipes, nutritional guidance, and suggestions for how to put your health first while nurturing your body through breast cancer.
As they say... every day might not be good, but there is good in every day. We know a #cancer diagnosis can be a scary and intimidating journey. But, there is good that can come from it. Many people find a new lease on life, a greater joy in those around them, a new intimacy with loved ones and even a more spiritual connectedness. What joy have you found in your journey?
