What an amazing backyard wedding I got to experience in Tyrone, Georgia on Sunday!! Cherish is a family friend, so it felt like quite the reunion, and she marr...ied an awesome brother Myron! It was probably one of the funniest weddings I've experienced. They married in Cherish's parents backyard. The love was evident throughout the day. Special thanks to Calvin Parker for joining me on the trip to capture some dope shots as well! Please let me know what you think!!! #shotbysomi #foreverfleming Photography: Somi Benson-Jaja, Shot by Somi Studios Second Shooter: Calvin Parker Makeup Artist: Crystal Orr, Crystal Nicole Artistry Videography: John Dierre Planner: Memories Last 4ever, LLC DJ: DJ Cinto Enterprise Cake: Cutie Pies & Cakery Dress: Tyler McClelland Campbell

Did you know that Chatham Country has the second largest homeless population in Georgia? Stories from Savannah Project -Homelessness : No. 2 It’s easy to survi...ve, as long as you are humble enough. Meet Paul Born in Camden County, Georgia Has Lived in Savannah for 10 years Age: 61 Homeless for 10 year Paul is a survivor. After a battle with addiction he lost his job, the people he loved, and wounded up on the streets. Before coming to Savannah he had a job in Beaufort, SC making boat docks. He says he grew up on the water and enjoyed his time on boats. Savannah to Paul, is a great city with caring people, he mentioned that you can have four square meals a day if you get up and get it. His words of advice for everyone is don’t get homeless, do what is takes to live a normal life. It’s easy to make money, but there’s nothing like having a family. You ain’t got no family out here. As far as living on the streets, he says it’s easy to survive, as long as you are humble enough. #shotbysomi #storiesfromsavannah ***** We had to get creative with this spotlight due to Paul’s request of not wanting his family to see him on TV. But he was down for us releasing these images via Facebook and was happy to share his story. Want to help Paul out? He is normally flagging on the corner of Abercorn and Apache Ave (Southside of Savannah )next to the Wells Fargo and will accept monetary donations and hygiene supplies. Some advice he had for people would like to give stuff is don’t give canned goods because it’s hard for them to carry them or open them up!

Over the next few months I will be highlighting Savannah's homeless in my Stories from Savannah to bring awareness to voices that are not usually given a microp...hone. Homelessness can happen to anyone and we need to do our best to help out when we can! Stories from Savannah Project : No. 1 "Everbody's somebody, Nobody's nobody." - Don Diablo Meet Eric Schuermann Born in Charleston, South Carolina Has Lived in Savannah for 7 years Age: 33 Homeless for 7/8 months Eric has a positive outlook on life even though he has been homeless since the beginning of this year. He is grateful for the help he has received from community kitchens and food banks but says it's still hard to get a bed at a shelter due to space. He mentioned before the pandemic he was living paycheck to paycheck as a concierge downtown, and that homelessness can happen to the best of us. He wants people to know "Everbody's somebody, Nobody's nobody." #shotbysomi #storiesfromsavannah
