HUD Secretary Carson Announces Second Opportunity to Showcase Manufactured Homes on the National Mall Today, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Ben Carson announced that the second annual Innovative Housing Showcase will take place from September 12 to 14 on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. As part of last year’s showcase, MHI worked with its members, both manufacturers and National Communities Council members, to ensure three fully furnishe...d HUD Code manufactured homes were on display steps away from the U.S. Capitol building. An average of 1,000 people per day toured the homes over the five-day period, including Administration officials, Members of Congress and the general public. With these homes on display, policymakers and the public saw with their own eyes that today’s modern manufactured homes are indistinguishable from site-built homes and about half the cost per square foot. Last year’s event helped to increase support for manufactured housing inside the halls of Congress, in the Administration and beyond. MHI looks forward to another opportunity to show the nation’s policymakers the quality, beauty and attainability of manufactured homes.
