By now you have probably seen several articles floating around fb with various variations of Smithfield and Tyson Pork closing their meat processing facilities ...due to COVID-19. The articles mention various forms for meat shortages across the country blah, blah, blah... There is plenty of food in the United States of America. These closures will affect some major retailers that hurt small town America years ago. Farmers are still raising cattle and hogs. Farmers are still growing vegetables, grains, hay and the like. Dairy farmers are still milking cows. McAfee Packing Company is still selling meat to everyone- wholesale and retail, grocery stores, restaurants offering curbside service, BBQ joints, walk in customers, phone order customers, and Online order customers. We are still butchering hogs and cows for the public and cutting them to your specifications. Mom and Pop meat processors are still alive and well across the country and we toughed it out when these large corporations could pad their pockets. It’s past time to get back to supporting local businesses, buying local and buying American. Do your own research on these large meat packers and make your own decisions. When this over, and it will be over, remember where you could get fresh, local meat, fresh produce, milk, breads, and cheeses. Yes, it’s easy to drop by a large grocery chain but the heart of your communities is your local small town grocery stores, meat markets, produce stands and dairy’s. Look closely for them. Many have been and are still hanging on. These small businesses have taken big hits by big companies over the years. They could have closed the doors but they persevered. I have no desire to go back to a pre-COVID-19 world because this has shown us all where local food supplies come from and brought families closer together. It’s shown us our Heavenly Father is still in control! We will all be stronger because of this crisis! Keep shopping local. Keep buying your beef and pork from us. Keep us busy and on our toes. Look for those businesses in your community and surrounding communities that went the extra mile for you, the consumer. And if you know of any experienced meat cutters/butchers- tell them to come see Daddy and Uncle Jimmy. The McAfee family has been serving you for over 67 years and will continue to do so. Fresh meat is an art form. It takes time and patience to cut it correctly. Feed your family the best and fresh there is. You can’t go wrong with local meat.
