Soccer in the Streets

This week we are featuring Coach Kelly Carter. She coaches the Kipp Ways Girls and Boys teams. Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, Coach Carter grew up playing soccer for the Brentwood Soccer Club as a youth player. As well she continued playing throughout high school at Ravenwood High School. Coach Carter says she coaches at Soccer in the Streets because she truly cares about the community. For 4 years, she watched the KIPP WAYS Primary scholars find joy through the beaut...iful game while learning valuable life skills from working as a team. She also stated that, Soccer in the Streets not only elevates the standard for nonprofits working in underserved communities around Atlanta but shows true innovation through their StationSoccer fields around the city. Outside of coaching and playing soccer, she is an avid reader and world traveler. She found much joy in traveling to various international soccer games to support the US Men's and Women's team with the American Outlaws. Thanks Coach Carter for all the hard work! **SITS Coaches Feature** This week we are excited to shoutout one of our female coaches, Coach Nadia Hamrang! She coaches the U14/16 Boys Team for the West End Warriors. She is originally from the Marietta, GA area and started playing soccer at NASA club from U10 and continued at the club till U18. She also played for the Olympic Development Program (ODP) team for two years and at Lassiter High School, where she won the State Championship her senior year in 2016.... Coach Nadia took her soccer career to GSU where she played for the club team. She graduated this past summer from GSU with a degree in Exercise Science. She is now a personal trainer and also coaches. She says she coaches at Soccer in the Streets because she feels that she can make a positive impact on these kids as they do to her through soccer. And what it takes to work together as a team on the field and off the field, to then implement these skills into their community. Stay tuned for the next coaches feature!
