Chrome has a new-"ish" feature which check's usernames and passwords against a database of known compromises and tells you if yours is in the list automatically. If you see the pop up, you should probably heed the advice, especially if you have not changed your password in some time. 1Password and LastPass have integrated a similar check. Here is a link to see if you have been compromised: https://haveibeenpwned.com/

If you are a fan of the Magic 2.0 series, you will know what I mean when I say I found the file. I had to look up how large the file is. 4728 Petabytes, Data sizes are expressed, in order, as either Kilobytes, Megabytes, Gigabytes, Terrabytes, Petabytes, Exabytes, or Zettabytes. This would be mostly easily expressed as 4.728 Exabytes, but we don't use that size often.

I have heard two stories recently about Internet Blackmail scams. The pictured email is very aggressive. If you are sensitive to foul language, skip over reading it please. The second scam involved finding a person on Omegle, I am not familiar with this service as of this writing, and then allowing them to record the surroundings via Skype, which lead to the blackmail. In both cases, the blackmail was a scam.

I was discussing the phenomena of Facebook apparently knowing what you are thinking or discussing and posting to your wall in conjunction with what "they" know about you. I decided to do a test. I scrolled through Facebook today with the intention of just noting advertisements or posts that were sponsored. Here are the results (In order that I viewed them): ReMarkable. Dell for Business Alienware... Springboard Secretlab History Daily strangely had a picture I have used for my background Triplebyte Table of Ultimate Gaming Nora, Smart Snoring Solution PC World Dell for business No Piracy Sophos Nearmap Final Fantasy XIV Smove Grip6 (yes I stopped to snark at a few people too, couldn't be avoided) I know that of Dell, Alienware, Springboard, and PC World, I have liked their pages, so no big surprise there. ReMarkable, Secretlab, History Daily, Triplebyte, Nora, Nearmap, smove and Grip 6 I have never heard of before. Table of Ultimate Gaming, No Piracy, Sophos, Final Fantasy XIV I have looked at or discussed with others. I would say targeted advertising is absolutely going on. But I talked about, and bought, a radiator for my truck over the past 3 days almost non-stop. Either they missed the boat on that one, or it really is just the Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon that people are really experiencing.
