The North Carolina Folklife Institute (NCFI) is working with traditional artists and other tradition-bearers across North Carolina to share their work through short homemade videos showcasing the music, craft, storytelling, traditional cooking and agriculture, folk medicine, occupational traditions, and other folklife of the state. 10-20 min videos featuring performances, demonstrations, or short talks and tutorials are created by the artists themselves, using phones or other available technology. NCFI then edits the footage and shares via the NCFI website, social media, and YouTube. Artists receive $500 for each video. If you’re interested in participating, please contact NCFI Director Sarah Bryan at [email protected] or (919) 824-1448 (call or text).
