Hello October!!! Well, contrary to some misguided thoughts and other negative vives, we will be reopening...we just do not know when yet! We are in the process of using our down time to improve The Southern Alpaca Connection. We are, at this moment, installing a new environmental system. We were concerned about the air exchange in our store so we are removing the unique system we have now and moving parts of it to our farm. We hope the new system will provide a better en...vironment for our friends and other customers at the time of reopening. We are also redesigning the store to some degree. We will still offer the same fantastic items made from alpaca fiber, the packaged coffee we roast on the farm, and our selection of wines from our wonderful Georgia Wineries...but we will also be expanding our wine selection and providing a different display of all our items. We are looking at a potential surprise feature, but that is somewhat iffy at the moment! We are, and will continue to be strong on Lavonia, and look forward to the time we can have our official reopening! An update on our store in Lavonia, Georgia. Yes, we are reopening, in our time. We do not want to be where someone is infected, or we are infected. Yes, we are losing money, but hey we are alive and loving our daughter that manages our store. We hope to keep her well and enjoying life. We also are loving and hoping to see our other daughter well and enjoying life...as well as all our family, hopefully soon. We currently still plan on reopening the first part of June, IF t...he infection rate has been shown to be at or close to zero for Franklin, Hart, Madison, Stephens, other nearby counties in Georgia, as well as Oconee, Anderson, and other nearby counties in South Carolina. To be honest with you, we would rather close our fantastic store if it would mean you did not suffer harm. We love our customers, our adopted community, the other merchants in Lavonia, and feel strongly that you deserve to be cared about rather than being placed in a position to prove a misguided point. Following the good advice of our leadership here in Lavonia, we have extended our earliest planned reopening to after May 18th. This will comply with the directive of our city council, mayor, and city manager. We thank all of those responsible for the safety and health of the people of Lavonia for taking this action. We look forward to a time when we all can have a giant block party together...but now is not that time.
