That’s all I’m praying for. - Terri Williams, in her voluntary statement to Atlanta Police Department Detectives on October 9, 2013 There was no video of the incident, but Terri Williams will leave Dekalb County Jail this evening a free woman. She has spent every day since October 9, 2013 in Dekalb County Jail without bond on seven charges: Malice murder, two counts of felony murder, three co...unts of aggravated assault, and one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. This morning, after a weeklong trial, and six hours of deliberation, Terri’s jury came back NOT GUILTY on all seven counts. Terri Williams is the sister of local Atlanta rap star OJ da Juiceman. Terri shot and killed Charlese Brooks, also known as Ms. Atlanta, in self-defense outside the Brick House Restaurant on Bouldercrest Road in East Atlanta. Charlese Brooks was an aspiring singer and had spent time collaborating with Future and Gucci Mane. Ms. Brooks was also the owner of Gucci Mane’s recording studio. It has been alleged that Gucci may have given Ms. Brooks the gun that was found on scene. Ms. Williams has been represented by counsel W. Scott Smith, along with private investigator J.T. Summers, and the attorneys and staff at W. Scott Smith, PC since the day of the shooting. Scott, with the help of his investigator, was able to introduce through testimony at trial the decedent’s gun on scene during the shooting. Smith and Summers were able to find dried blood on that gun that was not known to investigators or the District Attorney’s office through the entire criminal process. After days of cross-examination by Scott and testimony of a child witness, Dekalb County Assistant District Attorneys had to recall their star witness Tauheedah Faust on the fourth day of trial to admit she lied under oath about Ms. Brooks having a gun on the scene during testimony given earlier in the trial week. Scott Smith was quoted after the verdict saying, Acquittals on murder charges that rely on the grounds of self-defense are extremely rare. They only happen through tremendous investigation, attention to detail regarding the totality of the evidence, and over-preparation for trial. Terri returns home this evening to her son Deterrius Hardy, her mother and father Otis Sr. and Willie Mae Williams, and her brother Otis Williams, Jr. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all the families and friends who have been touched by this incident, especially the family of Charlese Brooks.

In March of 2016 our client Jeremy Washington was arrested for murder and aggravated assault following a poorly conducted police investigation. Regarding the heightened terror alert levels; Dear PRUDENT gun owners that have the legal ability to carry a weapon on their person and the proficiency to safely use it if needed. Please be prepared and aware this holiday weekend. An ISIS attack on our land would likely involve the use of "shooters" in highly populated venues. "Shooters" will be prepared for law enforcement but not for citizens with the courage and means to intervene. Operate within the laws of where you are..., be prudent, and mindful of other citizens that may not know you.
