In honor of Black History Month Fana HaileSelassie a junior, Ethel Waddell Githii Honors Scholar, International Studies major from Durham,North Carolina decided to do a remake of the May 2000 cover of Essence magazine. Fana wanted to acknowledge that exploring the essence of Spelman requires more than one Spelmanite, while also acknowledging the legacy of trailblazers like these iconic figures we grew up watching. We love to see our scholars pushing intellectual pursuits of personhood and community beyond the realm of the classroom!!!!!
