GAA Members, The Moody AFB has released the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Comprehensive Airspace Initiative which will establish new low-altitude... Military Operations Areas (MOAs) to enhance the airspace capacity within the existing Moody Military Operating Area. This Initiative/proposed action will allow aircrews to train in a low altitude mission environment. The US Air Force has prepared the EIS to assess the potential environmental consequences associated with modifying existing and creating new special use airspace (SUA) in the Moody Airspace Complex. The Air Force has identified three action alternatives to expand low-altitude training airspace at Moody AFB. All three alternatives would create new low-altitude Military Operations Areas (MOAs) beneath and within the lateral confines of existing MOAs and Restricted Areas of the Moody Airspace Complex. The three action alternatives are: Create new low MOAs with a floor of 1,000 feet above ground level (AGL) (Alternative 1); Create new low MOAs with a floor of 2,000 feet AGL (Alternative 2); and Create new low MOAs with a floor of 4,000 feet AGL (Alternative 3). For more information on the proposal, please review the material presented on the official EIS Website at www.moodyafbairspaceeis.com A public hearing is scheduled for October 29, 2020 at 5:30 p.m. via Cisco Webex Virtual Platform, and also accessed through the project website (moodyafbairspaceeis.com). The Air Force invites interested parties to comment on the Draft EIS as well as submit written comment by mail and email, and may provide verbal comment at the hearing. Anyone that would like to provide comments relevant to the project, proposed alternatives, or the analyses presented in the Draft EIS, is encouraged do so via the comment form on the project website or by email ([email protected] ), or by printing and mailing a comment form to: USPS Address: AFCEC/CZN, Attn: Moody AFB Comprehensive Airspace Initiative, 2261 Hughes Avenue, Suite 155, JBSA Lackland, TX 78236-9853 FedEx and UPS Address: AFCEC/CZN, Attn: Moody AFB Comprehensive Airspace Initiative 3515 S General McMullen, San Antonio, TX 78226-9853 To ensure the Air Force has sufficient time to consider public input on the Draft EIS, please submit comments by November 24, 2020. As there proposed expansion of the MOA will effect not only the specific airports underlining, the MOA will effect aircraft transiting through Georgia airspace as well. We encourage you to advise your pilot groups and participate in the process. Please register for the Virtual Public Hearing for the Moody AFB Comprehensive Airspace Initiative Draft EIS via provided link: https://vernaderogroup.webex.com/mw3300/mywebex/default.do Please copy GAA ([email protected]) and GDOT ([email protected]) on any comments you may provide to the military on this matter.
