What do children who attend the traditional Latin Mass learn from it that they are not likely to learn from the modern form of Mass? In my article today at 1P5,... I list the following lessons, and explain why, even in the best of circumstances, the modern form of Mass cannot equal what the TLM provides. 1. The Mass is a mystery of faith, a holy sacrifice. 2. Absolute reverence for the Most Blessed Sacrament. 3. The priest is a mediator between man and God. 4. The very words of the Mass are sacred and special. 5. The music especially the chant is unique and dedicated to God. 6. The Mass is a solemn, serious business. 7. The source of our unity and community is in Christ and flows out from Him to all of us. 8. Our religion is something given to us, received by us. 9. The Mass goes beyond the local community. 10. The Mass is the supreme school of prayer. In the article, I explain each one of these.

What are you bringing to the picnic?

In search of a St Andrew missal: I possibly left my missal at church last Thursday and was wondering if anyone happened to see it or accidentally picked it up. It is an older St Andrew Missal with a light black plastic cover over it, and red page edges. Unfortunately, my name is not in it, but there are several prayer cards in it that I could identify.... I saw a St Andrew missal on the St Joseph table in the social hall on Sunday, but that was not mine. If anyone came across it or possibly picked it up thinking it was theirs, I would be very grateful to get it back. I looked all around the church on Sunday, and did not see it anywhere.
