Statesboro Public Works & Engineering Department

The City of Statesboro will be closed on December 24th & 25th. The trash collection schedule is as follows: Monday & Tuesday - Normal Route Wednesday - Wednesday & Thursday Route Thursday & Friday - No Collection... The Landfill will be opened from 7:00-12:00 on Thursday and closed only on Friday, December 25th.

Today from 8-12:30 there will be a road closure on East Main St. from Zetterower Ave. to Gordon St. to replace a broken power pole. Please be prepared for route changes and proceed with caution.

Today we honor and celebrate a gentleman that has served with Public Works for over 17 years. Robert Dixon, Streets Division Supervisor of Public Works, has recently retired from his position. He has served faithfully with the City of Statesboro, and we are thankful for his dedication and influence that he shared with us over the years. He has been very dedicated to his work and has trained many employees well on equipment operations. During the week of Thanksgiving, Public Works was able to celebrate all of his accomplishments and service by throwing a Covid-19 safe celebration party. This moment was a bittersweet time for all of us who worked with Robert. We are sad to see Robert go, but know that his retirement is much deserved! We wish him well and know that he will be successful in his future endeavors!
