King Family & Kin of Stone Mountain, GA

In honor of Veterans Day.....Our earliest known King ancestor was Francis King, a private in the Militia of the War of the Revolution. He was born in Northern Ireland & married Isabella Brown in 1772. He served in the Militia under Captain John Nixon and in his first tour served in the Snowy Campaign in the winter of 1775.

Patentees Monument, Washington DC... Dedicated to the original 18 who granted their land to make up Washington DC. Among those was our ancestor, Zachariah Wade. His great great grandson, Robert Henley Courts Wade was the 1st Wade ancestor to settle in DeKalb Co., GA. Robert is buried in the Wade Cemetery in DeKalb Co. GA. Zachariah Wade, patentee, was the 5th great grandpa of Bessie Jones King aka Gamama.

Did you know?..... One of our family names is Nisbet. It originated in the Scottish Lowlands. Our furthest traceable ancestor with this name had gone to Northern Ireland before coming to South Carolina & later to Newton County, GA....James Nisbet b abt 1770 married to Sarah Frew. Their daughter, Ellender Nisbet married John Alexander King & they were great grandparents to Jesse Monroe King.

Warren House at Smith's Fort Plantation, VA, home of our ancestor, thru Gamama, Capt. Thomas Warren. He bought this land from Thomas Rolfe, son of Pocahontas.
