All our student leaders are invited to participate in a COVID-19 telephone town hall with leading infectious disease physicians and public health experts who are fighting the pandemic and working on vaccine development. On Thursday, December 10 at 7:30 pm, Rep. McBath will be joined by leading medical experts, Dr. Carlos del Rio and Dr. Colleen Kelley of Emory University and the Moderna vaccine trial at Grady, as well as Senator-elect Dr. Michelle Au, a physician and public h...ealth expert. In addition to presentations from each of our panelists, there will be a Q&A session for residents on the call to engage with Rep. McBath and our experts to learn more about the work that is being done to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. SLJC class of 2021 members Samay Shah and Niyomi Shah along with Bhavin (Niyomi's Brother), and Saumini (Samay's Sister worked hard on two projects over the Thanksgiving holiday. 1) Operation HomeFront Gift Packing for Army Families - they packed 100 gift bags for military families and gave them to the respected families along with toys for the kids on November 21st from 8:30-12:30. 2) Food4Lives November 23rd and 25th FoodDrive and Donation. The group worked with their fami...ly and the Northview Interact Club of Rotary Club of Johns Creek for Atlanta Homeless. They cooked 250+ meals cooked from scratch all at home, packed, and distributed these meals to the Atlanta homeless by personally taking a trip to Downtown Atlanta. They purchased nearly $500 worth of raw food, cupcake boxes, seasoning, spices, and ingredients to prepare food which was all vegetarian. They spent in excess of 30 hours each for these two drives. According to Niyomi and Samay "This project truly showed us how important it is for each of us to pay back to over communities during the pandemic and make volunteering as a integral part of out daily lives."
