Alfred Guerra, a 94-year-old WWII Veteran, Bronze Star and Purple Heart recipient, was in desperate need of home restoration in San Antonio, Texas. A crew from our local branch, Southern Shingles, provided the materials and labor for a new roof for Guerra’s home. On the morning of January 12th, Charly, the National Building Supply boom truck operator and safety coordinator came upon a rollover accident on Route 287 in Bridgewater Township, New Jersey. Charly, a Marine veteran, sprang into action, stopping his truck as the first person on the scene. He was able to help the woman out of the vehicle through the moonroof and stayed on the scene until first responders could arrive. SRS Distribution is proud of Charly and the National Building Supply team every day but today was heroic! Thank you for continuing to do the Right Thing!

Our partnership with Habitat for Humanity continues as we completed our second roof donation! This donation was given to Vietnam era Army veteran Clifford Lincoln in our Northeast region near Buffalo, NY. Our B&L Supply Buffalo branch team provided roofing products for this project and, Barry Weiss of Habitat graciously stated, This whole experience (working with SRS) could not have been better. This holiday season SRS Raise the Roof Foundation and our SRS family seek to brighten the lives of children in need in our community. 2020 has been full of uncertainty, especially for children. Imagine having no place to call home, especially with winter coming. For those who are homeless, their harsh reality is even harsher this year. This is Homeless Awareness Week, bringing attention to the needs of those seeking shelter and hope. Our partner The Samaritan Inn offers more than just a bed. They give help and resources to willing people seeking dignity and independence through their comprehensive program teaching self-sufficiency and life skills.
