Sushi Zen Southside

This is a difficult post for us. At 10:30am on New Years Day, Owner/Chef Kazumi Yoshimoto passed away. Most of you know him as 'Yoshi'. Yoshi's first restaurant started as Yoshi's Downtown at the corner of MLK and Congress. In 1998, he opened Sushi Zen at 41 Whitaker St and from there opened 3 other locations including one in Tokyo, Japan - Edomichi. His restaurants have won Best Sushi in Savannah for over 20 consecutive years. Chef Yoshi had the honor to serve as the repres...entative chef for delegates and visitors from the Japanese Government and media during the G-8 summit held in Sea Island, GA. He also took time being a Culinary instructor at the Tokyo Sushi Academy. In 2011, Yoshi became one of the first people in the U.S. to receive an official Sushi Proficiency Certificate from the AJSA (All Japan Sushi Association), one of the highest certifications for Sushi in Japan. Chef Yoshi was a traditional Sushi chef that valued his customers experience and made it his goal to spread love and joy through his traditional Japanese cuisine. Thank you Yoshi-san. Sushi Zen will be closed on the 25th & 26th for the holidays. We will resume our take out services on Monday the 28th. Happy Holidays from the Zen family to you.
