Chapel Hill man drowns in outdoor swimming pool at Utah hotel A Chapel Hill man died Monday while practicing holding his breath in an out-of-state hotel swimming pool. The Summit County Sheriff's Office posted on Facebook that deputies responded to the Westgate Hotel in Park City, Utah, around 9:45 p.m.... At the hotel, deputies learned that the 22-year-old drowned in the hotel's outdoor pool while holding his breath underwater. According to deputies, the man was staying at the hotel with three friends, and the group had been drinking alcohol throughout the day. The man told his friends he was going to try to hold his breath underwater longer than ever before. After five minutes, the friends became worried and pulled the man from the pool, deputies said. They performed CPR until EMS personnel arrived, but after being transported to Park City Medical Center, the man was declared dead. The name of the man will not be released until family members are notified. On Facebook, the Summit County Sheriff’s Office posted "sincere condolences to the family and friends of the decedent."
