TAG Fall Cave-In

It’s that time of year again, when Fall is in the air, the leaves are starting to turn, and we spend time with our caver family from near and far. Although we won’t be attending our traditional TAG Fall Cave-In, we can create our own smaller unique versions, and share our collective but separate experiences from this time. In this most interesting year, while we adapt to keep our communities safe and healthy, please honor the TAG Fall Cave-In tradition by gathering in small g...roups, building our individual mini-TAG fires, and taking lots of pictures. With a small group of friends and favorite cavers, take the weekend of Oct 9-11 to create your unique memories in honor of our beloved event. Don’t forget to post your pictures on Facebook, and send them to us so they can be included in the 2021 TAG Fall Cave-In guidebook. Stay safe, cave softly, and have fun!

Hello fellow cavers, friends, and family, As you may be aware, the Cave-In Advisory Board has been closely monitoring recent events. We have been optimistic in our intention that our beloved TAG Fall Cave-In would not be affected, and have collectively and individually pondered, watched, and hoped that the events of the day would be resolved. We feel responsible for keeping our community safe and healthy, as our caving impacts many facets beyond our community, including local... businesses, the residents of Dade and Walker County (Georgia), and all the people we meet on the journey to visit the unique underground environment we call "TAG." Most importantly we have a responsibility to you, our members, attendees, and to your families. Thus, the decision has been made with heart-felt heaviness to cancel the TAG Fall Cave-In for 2020. However, we are excited to see the world and our local communities become stable and back to "normal" again in the coming year, as our hope has not been cancelled. We love you all and look forward to an amazing TAG Fall Cave-In that is being planned for 2021. In the meantime, invite a friend, gather in small groups, be safe, have fun, and Let’s Go Caving! In 1966 Robert Kennedy borrowed Sir Chamberlain’s quote, ‘May you live in interesting times’. Indeed we are in the midst of interesting times. As you are aware, the DCG hosted TAG Fall Cave-In has been an annual tradition for 42 years, with 2020 being 43rd. To that end, the 43rd TAG teams are currently working towards seeing you all at the regularly scheduled event Oct 8th - 12th, 2020. Due to these interesting times, pre-registration will be opening later than normal, likely... early to mid-August. If you could please consider using a credit card or PayPal to pre-register (in the event world events cause the event to be cancelled or postponed); that would ease any monies lost if refunds are required. If using a check is your only option, of course we will still receive your payment. For now, we are excited to announce that the 43rd TAG Fall Cave-In is still a go for 2020! The 43rd TAG Fall Cave In will be October 8-11, 2020 on Lookout Mountain. Until then, stick with the theme and LETS GO CAVING! To prepare for the event, the Work Weekend has been set for September 25-27, 2020.
