For the past couple of days, I've been trying to figure how to address what happened on Wednesday January 6th. A day that was starting out to be such a happy day for so many people who worked so very hard to get Americans and Georgians to vote in a run off election, ended in terror. But a group of domestic terrorist broke in and trashed and vandalized the Capitol building. I'm heart broken. I've been listening to heart broken and triggered people for the past couple of days and will continue to listen to their experiences for the upcoming weeks and months. Please be kind to yourself, speak sweetly, calming and gently. I'm here for you and so are so many mental health practitioners.

Miley does a really good job describing parts work, Internal Family Systems. This is something I utilize in therapy sessions, the idea that part of us can feel a certain way in a specific time in our lives.

Good morning all, I wanted to express my disappointment on a recent character that was on Grey's Anatomy. Normally I am very satisfied with how they represent people on this show, but there was a recent character that missed the mark, big time. They had a patient who was a sex therapist and he indicated he was watching his clients have sex and also indicated that he helped women have 37 orgasms, alluding he did this with his hand. As a licensed and insured Sex Therapist, I wa...s deeply offended by this. We DO NOT touch our clients OR watch them be sexual. It is talk therapy. We are legally and ethically bound to not cross those boundaries. This was a very dangerous depiction of our profession. I am disappointed that it appears an actual licensed sex therapist was not consulted before the development of this character. It appears the character they wrote was a sex surrogate (an equally important profession) not a licensed mental health provider who specialized in sex therapy. I would appreciate Grey's Anatomy to use their platform to correct this error.
