HOW TO WINTERIZE YOUR TCS TRUCKMOUNT Fill a 5-gallon bucket with 3 to 4 gallons of RV/Boat anti-freeze solution. Make sure that it is rated for well below the lowest anticipated temperature. Follow manufacturers instructions regarding dilution, or use product full strength. Take the intake hose out of the fresh water tank and place it into... the bucket of anti-freeze solution. Place your chemical feed hose into the bucket also. If you have a small water reservoir as is found on some truckmounts, you can fill it with the anti-freeze solution. Attach your floor wand to the solution/pressure line as you would for cleaning. Start the truckmount. DO NOT turn on the heater if your machine has one. Turn on the pump. Hold the wand valve open until anti-freeze comes out of the wand jets. This may take up to 5 minutes depending on pressure hose length. Remove the floor wand and repeat the process with each additional tool that will remain in the vehicle such as upholstery tool, stair wand, rotary powerwand, etc. Attach a section of pressure hose to any solution port(s) on the front of the machine and run for a few moments until antifreeze comes out from there also. Again, the goal is to assure that all water or cleaning solution is replaced with the anti-freeze solution. A basic understanding of your truckmount plumbing is necessary to assure that you do not miss anything. Remember, a little bit of ice can do a lot of damage. Once you are sure that this has all been accomplished, you can turn off the system. Before using the machine again, run all of the antifreeze out and back into the bucket for reuse. Put a lid on the bucket while stored. This is the recommended method for most truckmounts. Every truckmount is different though, so consult your owner’s manual or call TCS to make sure of the best procedure for your particular machine. Protect your fresh water supply hose from freezing by getting all of the water out of it. If you have a fresh water reservoir, you may need to drain all of the water out of it to prevent freezing. If you can’t winterize any piece of equipment, hose, or accessory, you’ll need to heat the inside of the van or take those items inside until the weather warms up (or until you can operate the equipment again).
