As for this illness, Losing love ones and Residents to an awful disease Dementia it is truly an emotional feeling as you watch your love ones deteriorate and there is nothing you can do. The Neurologist said that dementia / Alzheimer's should be called "failure of the brain," because the other names are nebulous and do not show the severity of the disease to most people. As the patient's brain slowly dies, you know they've changed physically, and the caregivers are often in s...hock!! Patients will end up bedridden, unable to move, and unable to eat or drink. But it is the different phases beforehand that are just as painful. The day they suddenly forget how to dress themselves, and become confused or combative when you try to fix the shirt, or pants, they've put on backwards. When they repeatedly ask where their life-long mate is while looking straight at her. When they are confused, angry, or frightened, because they are still partially aware of who they were, yet are no longer... There will be people who will scroll by this message because dementia / Alzheimer's has not touched them. They don't know what it is to fight or to have a loved who leads a battle against dementia / Alzheimer's. For all the men and women I know, I ask you a small favor. If you know someone who has LED a battle against dementia / Alzheimer's, still struggling or who passed, please add this to your status for one hour as a mark of respect and remembrance... copy and paste it in support of the victims And families affected by dementia and Alzheimer's as there is no cure. I just want to say thank you on behalf of the residents and staff of The Landings Care Home to The Griffin High School Football/ Basketball team and the young ladies for their Act of Kindness today . I also want to say thank you to Connie Belle Jenkins Sweet , Erika Jenkins Freeman and Amy Binder for thinking not just of me but the resident's during this time of year. I also want to thank God for ordering your steps today. The resident's was very happy. Some have family that visit and some have no family to come visit at all. I pray that God Bless and keep each and everyone of you and let his face shine upon you. Keep of the good work and God want let it go in Vain. Wtbs.....
