Needlepointers rejoice, we have threads! You may remember that I posted a while back about the problems in the supply chain of embroidery threads and yarns. Well we have just got this big order of Vineyard Silk and Bo is getting it put up as fast as she can.
Where in the world would you like to go when we can all travel safely again? Until then here are some new ornaments to inspire you for your next trip, or to remind you of places you visited pre Covid.
From Frabjous Fibers Felt Notions Bag ....for your stitch markers and row counters and other little things that like to hang out in the bottom of your knitting bag... These fun felted bags, handmade in Nepal, make nice little gifts for your knitty friends if you can bear to give them away.
An adorable piece of whimsy, suitable for a little girl or for the little girl within us. This mermaid canvas can be ordered and of course we have all those gorgeous threads to choose from. And if you need undersea inspired buttons we have those too.
Just in from Queensland Collection a new yarn, Dungarees Paint. Get this, it is spun from recycled jeans! That is so amazing and I can’t wait to try it. It is a sport weight yarn and I am thinking a summer top to go with a nice pair of un recycled jeans. This is just one more thing to check out this Saturday ar your Local Yarn Store!
More new colors to delight you from Bo’s imagination palette.
Sorry we've been quiet for a while but we are definitely still here and looking forward to you coming in to see us. This is what Bo has been up to, dyeing some chunky yarn! So for all of you fans of the quick and easy here are some wonderful new colors just in time for hat season.
As I’ve said before, tweed has made a big comeback. The newest one we have in is from Plymouth Yarn. It is Pima Rino and is 56% Pima cotton, 26% Merino superwash and 18% Donegal Tweed. Here in the south we appreciate the lighter weight yarns without having to sacrifice the softness of the animal fibres.
Back to normal! This is Island Dyeworks version of the very popular tweed yarn that we have been seeing so much of recently. More colors are available and I will post them at a later date.
This is what Covid 19 does to a normally conservative, restrained dyer. We are calling this ‘Crazy Dye-lady Gone Wild’. This may be a one-off so if you like it and want to be a little crazy yourself call Bo at the store to secure it.
Just look at these gorgeous colors in this fabulous hand dyed yarn. This is Addy Sock yarn by Brediculous. Don’t you just love that crazy name? We did and thought you would love it too. We have never carried this yarn before so come and check it out. We also had some bulky yarn but that mostly sold within a couple of days. That’s how popular this yarn is so don’t miss out!
Here is a great kit for crocheters, Knitting Fever’s Perris Wrap. This version is done in 2 balls of Giardino by Louise Harding and we have 2colorways available at this time - Rosabella, shades of rose, pink, rust and purple, and Belle Fiore, which is sage, pink and lavender. Call for more information and to order.
Another mohair blend from Berrocco. Remember, if you see anything you like in these posts you can call us during opening hours and we can help you purchase what you need to start your next project. Calling will guarantee a more immediate response than messaging.
Mohair is more popular now than ever and it comes in many weights and blends. There are many patterns to be found on the websites of knitting companies like Berrocco, Knitting Fever or Trendsetter. Today we are featuring 2 mohair yarns from Berrocco. Artesia is a handpainted blend of alpaca, mohair and nylon that is a bulky weight making it suitable for sweaters or cardigans for the ambitious knitter. It also works well for wraps or scarves. Aerial is a lace weight with 35% silk giving it added strength and a beautiful luster. This Is a perfect yarn for the Everyday Wrap we have been featuring in the store.
We love to feature our customers work. This beautiful bag is just back from the finishers and is just waiting to be enjoyed. A point of interest, the water background is done in Mad Tosh fingering that was featured in our last post. This canvas can be special ordered by calling the store during business hours.
Some beautiful new Mad Tosh colors for your knitting pleasure.
Hot Cakes from Plymouth Yarn. A nice washable acrylic/wool yarn that is perfect for baby blankets.
Here’s a pattern to challenge you, Wingspan by Kyle Vey. It comes in 3 sizes and this is the smallest Knitted in Island Dyeworks fingering. If you are interested in attempting this we can definitely offer in-house support.
