Questions You’ve Always Wanted To Ask A Massage Therapist

The Therapeutic Lair~~ professional massage 22.05.2021

I'm going to go ahead and give some facebook medical advice, a rare occurrence I would say, but since the flu has been such a diva lately : Here goes : # 1. It... is a virus and it has to run its course over about an average of 7 days . #2. Tamilflu will lessen the course of illness by approximately 23 hours....if you start it within 48 hours of your symptom onset. #3. You are contagious for 7 days. Even if you feel better , you shed the virus in the respiratory tract for that long . So do us all a favor, and stay home for that long if at all possible ! .....And by contagious , I mean the flu droplets can travel airborne for up to 6 feet when you cough and sneeze etc ..... #4. Antibiotics and steroid shots WILL NOT get rid of it , along with any other "virus" ....IT.WILL.NOT. So ,if your health care provider does not want to give you this , it is for good reason . Yes, steroids may help your congestion a little , and will help conditions such as bronchitis, sinusitis, and pneumonia, as in , lessen the severity of symptoms in some cases , but I will not "knock it out " or "get rid of it", "quick fix" or whatever . There are , however, other meds, you can even get over the counter that will help this . Mucinex, dimetapp, Flonase, ibuprofen, Tylenol, are examples . #5. If you have the flu; or any other "virus," that last longer than 7 days , or if you have true difficulty breathing , can't stay hydrated, etc ....then you need to see your health care provider as soon as possible, and if you are unsure ....see your health care provider . In those cases you may very well need antibiotics or steroids or other medical treatment to treat secondary complications. Also, if you have chronic health conditions, for example COPD/Emphysema, Asthma, Heart Disease, Diabetes, etc, or any condition that suppresses your immune system, please consult your health care provider. #6. For the majority of healthy people who have been victimized by the seasonal influenza: resting , hydrating , and treating the associated symptoms , and using airborne precautions to avoid infecting others , is truly the best treatment . Children under 2 and older adults are at a higher risk for complications from the flu, and should always seek advice and evaluation from their provider as soon as possible . #7. Symptoms you almost always have with the flu include : fever ; extreme body aches ; cough, feeling like you have been hit by a train, and "even my skin hurts" are common symptoms observed. Come see me if you need any more advice. Brought to you by your local, self proclaimed influenza expert.... For real, it's rampant , and you need to protect yourself by avoiding crowded places when possible, washing your hands , and using hand sanitizer religiously, covering your mouth/ nose when coughing etc etc
