Another great day in court! Yesterday we were victorious in a blind plea in Clayton County. Not only did I get the armed robbery dismissed as the only negotiated part of the plea, but we got our client released on house arrest for the remaining of his...wait for it...3 yr sentence on Agg Assault. After his First Offender sentence is completed, his record will be clear! This was a year long fight because the State wanted 7 years in prison. My client was 17 at time of arrest, had never been in trouble, high school diploma, but was hanging with some knuckle heads. I tell kids all the time you have to watch who you hang with because the Party to a Crime statute will have you locked up for some crap you didn't do all because you were there.
