#GivingTuesdayNow is a new global day of giving and unity that will take place on May 5, 2020 in addition to the regularly scheduled Dec 1, 2020 #GivingTuesday as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19. #GivingTuesdayNow is an opportunity for people around the world to stand together in unity--to use their individual power of generosity to remain connected and heal. Giving Tuesday Now takes place on Tuesday May 5th. Donations may be made online... at gagives.org; then search for 'Friends of The Cannonball House' to make your donation. Or if you'd rather send your donation directly to us, that's great too (The Cannonball House, 856 Mulberry St., Macon, GA 31202). You can even call us and make your donation via credit card (745-5982, Monday-Friday 10am-3:30pm). May 5th is the official #GivingTuesdayNow date but you don't have to wait until then if you'd like to make your donation now-that works too! Due to Covid-19 The Cannonball House lost funds we normally count on to operate. The Cherry Blossom Festival, our BBB event, tours and other events during this period provide 15-20% of our annual budget, so the loss of all these has definitely had an impact on our beautiful museum. Thank you friends for any donations you'd care to make. You all make a difference and we love each and every one of you. See more

One positive thing about the current state of affairs is that our small staff can continue working despite our museum being closed to the public. Our archivist Wayne is using this downtime to catalogue our extensive Southern history and Civil War library, which consists of hundreds of books mostly donated by UDC members. Our staff is also cleaning the house, too. Pictured: Judge Holt's desk in the Judge's Bedroom, photo credit to board member SherriƩ Raleigh.
