City of Milton, Georgia 22.12.2020

A large, private, political event midday Monday has the potential to bring a significant number of visitors and, with them, traffic congestion to downtown Crabapple. The event is expected to begin around noon and last about one hour, with possible traffic congestion beginning at approximately 11 a.m. until about 2 p.m.. The City’s latest understanding is that it will be centered outside (the back) of Olde Blind Dog, with the parking lot around there closed to the general ...public. These plans including times and location -- may change. There may be significant traffic congestion and potential parking issues due to this event, which could possibly bring hundreds of people to Crabapple. While the City has no direct involvement, police officers may redirect some vehicles in the public interest of maintaining optimal traffic flow and ensuring people’s safety.

City Council closes out 2020 with votes to allow five new standby judges at Milton Municipal Court and to further revise City policies on alcohol-related business. Mayor Joe Lockwood and Council members will hit on several other topics as well. Yet the December 21 agenda isn’t as packed as some more recent ones, with items falling only in these three categories: CONSENT AGENDA, which consists of generally non-contentious items that the Council approves without discussion an...Continue reading

Santa’s on his way, Milton!

City of Milton, Georgia 08.11.2020

Are you fired up for Santa's trip through Milton? He'll be weaving through the city very, very soon on a Milton fire engine, flanked by a Milton police escort, to spread some Christmas cheer. Check out the list on this post to see exactly where he'll be. We hope that many residents can come outside and say "Hello!" to our very special visitor to the North Pole. And we expect you will! Just be careful when parking to leave enough room for the fire engine; last thing we want is... Santa's "sleigh" to be stuck. Merry Christmas to all -- and to all a great day! #GetFiredUp #HoHoHo #SpecialGuest #WelcomeSanta #MiltonGa

For the 12th straight year, the City of Milton has earned an award for its Comprehensive Annual Finance Report -- a thorough accounting of how the City manages its resources. In a recent letter, the GFOA of the US & Canada (with GFOA standing for Government Finance Officers Association, which represents thousands of public finance organizations throughout North America) recognized that Milton had qualified for its report for FY2019. You can review the report (which is for the... year that began Oct. 1, 2018, and ended September 30, 2019) by clicking here: https://www.cityofmiltonga.us/home/showpublisheddocument. This award reflects the City Finance Department's hard work, not just in putting together the report (known as CAFR) but also in being responsible stewards of Milton residents and businesses tax dollars. That's a 365/24/7 responsibility that the City takes very seriously. #MiltonProud #AwardWinning #FinanceGoals #MiltonGa

Happy last day of Chanukah! Thank you to the Chabad of North Fulton for sharing their fifth night celebration with the City of Milton. The celebration included Chanukah trivia, individually-wrapped traditional jelly doughnuts and latkes, dreidel arts & crafts and, of course, the lighting of the menorah. Chag Sameach!... #MiltonGa #Chanukah #Hanukkah #MiltonProud #4TheLoveOfMilton #LightUpMilton
