Today is National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day; #TeamTELF would like to say THANK YOU to all of the officers who work diligently to serve this community! We were grateful to have Chief Roy Minter, of the Savannah Police Department, with us for the Thanksgiving food drive and felt honored to serve alongside him to make the day a special one.

October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month, and this year, the Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society raised more than $30,000 during the annual "virtual" Buddy Walk. Tragically, more than 10 million Americans suffer at the hands of loved ones each year, and women are twice as likely to be targets of this heinous crime as men. Congratulations to Nancy Summerour, a kindergarten teacher at Bloomingdale Elementary School. She's the winner of our teacher contest. Nancy is a 13-year teacher who is making a significant impact in the lives of her students. Most every night, she can be found on Facebook reading live to her students on her page, Summer Hour's Reading Nook. "There is nowhere else I would rather be than in the classroom," says Ms. Summerour. When she's not teaching, she spends time with her own two children and on the soccer field coaching. Thank you, Ms. Summerour, for working so hard to teach our children. Your passion shows through in all that you do!
