After scoring 37 points in a win over Heritage on Tuesday and 30 last night in a win over Savannah High, Thomas Tift is your Habersham Athlete of the Week! "Thomas has embraced the role of taking on whatever is needed of him as a player, said Coach Tony Scott. Even as a senior, he has become even more coachable in my short time as head coach. I wish I had more years to coach him. He's an offensive threat at all times and exhibits the heart and character of a Habersham Patriot." Go Thomas! #PatriotPride #TheHabershamSchool

This week on...The Patriot Report! The Patriot Report is a bi-weekly student-produced video covering all things Habersham created by students in the Upper School Media & Morality elective. Media and Morality course is designed as a trimester elective that trains students to create, edit, produce, and critically evaluate true, good, and beautiful video-based media. Students will receive instruction in several widely used multimedia platforms and will be responsible for regularly producing informative and engaging media content for the school community. In addition to receiving training in many of the technical aspects of video-based media, students will learn to think through the risks and benefits of media, especially as it relates to their relationship to God, and the pursuit of honoring Him through the media that is created.

Final day to give to the Habersham Fund! "The teachers teach to who these two kids are becoming and not a product." - Board Member and Parent, Marshall Davis. The richness of a Habersham education is based in part upon the generosity of parents, grandparents, faculty/staff, and friends who are all dedicated to the mission of the school. We rely upon the generosity of the Habersham community to maintain the school and to prepare for the future. We pray that you will consider Habersham when planning your year-end giving. "Engaging in the Morning Liturgy reveals to us who God is, and thus who we are. By beginning each day in truth, we hope to model to students the importance of honoring what is primary. This daily routine provides stability in the lives of the students and hopefully builds habits that will continue well beyond their years at Habersham. Students engage in the Morning Liturgy with a small group, led by a teacher of the same gender, who disciples this group of students all year b...y encouraging spiritual growth, praying regularly for them, living as an example, and nurturing relationships with this special group. It is our hope that as students daily encounter God and are shepherded, they will grow in love for him. While the journey of growing in love for God is a lifelong one, Habersham desires to partner with parents in preparing students well for the journey." https://thehabershamschool.org/morning-liturgy-who-god-is-/ See more

Can you spot the difference? We can’t! Visual Arts teacher, Ms. Snow, goes all in for her class studies of A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte by Georges Seurat. Taught from the classical perspective, visual arts classes at Habersham emphasize both conceptual drawing from the imagination and observational drawing from nature, while also incorporating the study of historical masterpieces. #TheHabershamSchool

#MissionMoments Relationships are central to who we are. A remarkable student-teacher ratio of 8:1 enables individual attention and abundant opportunities for each student to explore, speak, discover, and lead. Further, students will learn to take the risks needed to truly explore when they know they are in a safe place a place where failure is seen as an opportunity to learn something new. #TheHabershamSchool

In 1933, a wealthy New Yorker, Edwin Jay Gould, made an investment that would last a lifetime. Gould, a railroad tycoon and a millionaire by the age of 27, spent much of his life and a good portion of his fortune investing in the lives of children. While his efforts were admirable, it was not until tragedy struck in 1917 that he became wholeheartedly devoted to this cause. After the passing of his son, Edwin Jr., Gould established the Edwin Gould Foundation for Children with... the simple mission of assisting disadvantaged children from low-income families and thereby transforming countless communities across the Eastern seaboard of the United States. In the final year of his life, Gould focused his efforts on a plot of undeveloped land on the southern outskirts of the city of Savannah; an effort to transform empty farmland into a thriving nursery for wanting children. A new home, The Gould Nursery, was born. Toward the end of its first year (2012) while still meeting at Grace Church of the Islands, The Habersham School acquired the derelict cottage to meet the needs of a growing student body. As a parting gift to President Welch, Visual Arts Chair Jared Seff painted this watercolor rendering of Gould. We of course think he nailed it. What say you? Comment below. #TheHabershamSchool

Give a warm welcome to the many new students who were inducted and welcomed into their houses by the Gould Cottage Campus Liaisons! To that end, our students will hopefully grow to see that science is a good gift to us from God, and it should be used as such. We also want them to see that science makes a lousy religion, no matter how fervently its preachers shout. We want our students to put their hope and trust in truth that endures and cannot change with a new study or marketing campaign. Such truth is found only in the Bible, the authoritative, revealed word of God given to us so that we can know Him and live as He designed us to live. When we view the world with that proper lens, then we can understand and use science the way that it was intended: as a tool to help us reverence God more, and to help us improve the lives of others. #TheHabershamSchool https://thehabershamschool.org/putting-science-in-its-place/

Students putting the final touches on their pastel landscapes after months of hard work and preparation. "The frame, the signature, and the edges all seem like cursory decisions in a work of art but the opposite is true," said Visual Arts Chair, Jared Seff. "Every mark and decision made in a piece should be intentional and contribute toward the overall effect. I like to use the metaphor of running a marathon, relating each decision in a work of art to a step in the race - every step taking you toward the finish." #VisualArts #TheHabershamSchool
