Here is additional information from a colleague I wanted to share: You know what it’s like to be the victim of injury or to lose someone you love to the negligence of another. You and your family live with the effects for a lifetime. Even when you get a recovery, it’s not like winning the lottery. Every few years some of our state legislators take aim at victims and decide to change the law. They couch it in terms of lowering insurance premiums or improving the Georgia bus...iness climate. Last time they did this was 2005. No one’s insurance premiums have gone down. In fact, they’ve gone up. And the idea that Georgia is a bad business climate is a bad joke. 2019 was the 6th year in a row Georgia was ranked the #1 state in the country for doing business by Area Development. Despite the facts, they are at it again this year with legislation in the state senate, Senate Bill 415. I and other lawyers are fighting hard to keep this legislation from passing, but the only thing that can really stop this kind of craziness is when voters like you speak up. I’m asking you to take 5 minutes or less and do two things: 1) Click this link https://openstates.org/find_your_legislator/ and put in your address. Your state senator’s name will be the top one. Click his/her name (in blue). 2) Email or call your state senator and simply say My name is _______. My address is _________. I want you to know I strongly oppose senate bill 415. That’s it. If you call instead of email, realize it’s usually an intern that takes the phone call. They won’t argue with you or ask you any questions. Please take the time to contact them.
