The Mommy Readers Collection The Benefits of Reading to and with your Children. I remember when I started reading at age 2 -1/2, it was quite unconventional. My... Mummy would take me shopping and read the product boxes to me. She would enunciate the words and have me repeat them back to her. She would tell me to notice the size and colors on the packaging. Then at age three she would assign me the tasks of going to retrieve the items that she taught me to read. My Daddy would read the Comic strips to me in the paper when he returned from work in the evenings. Then, we would read Comic Books together. My wonderful Sister gave me my first book and took me to the Library to register for my Library card. My Mummy read the classics, like Edgar Allen Poe and Dickens. Of course we owned several dictionaries to look up new words we did not know. This gave me a great foundation for reading well and thriving in life. This also created a lifelong bond and the sense of being loved. Today please take time to read to your Children.
