Neurology has proven that when we are praised, neurons in the reward centers of our brains fire in response. There's a saying in science that "neurons that fire... together wire together." They connect and create new synaptic pathways that carry our thoughts. Repeated thoughts create a belief system which lead to a lifestyle. You have the ability to change people's lives by your words. Make a difference today. Affirm. Compliment. Build up people. It's an awesome power you possess. Use it. That is the grace walk experience,

Helping other people can be a very convenient, socially sanctioned distraction. Don’t get me wrong, it’s important. But, if you’re someone who hides yourself in... helping others, you know exactly what I mean. . It can be so much easier to be a listening ear for someone else’s pain than to feel your own heart breaking inside. It’s not threatening to honor someone else’s anger, while it can be terrifying as heck to tap in to your own buried rage. . You don’t have to stop being responsible or kind to other people. But do make sure you are aware of the warning signs that you’re hiding behind your own helping behaviors: Are you compulsively responding to every single request for help or encouragement? Are you working over time for others to avoid a challenge in your own life? Are you vaguely aware that something is out of balance, but you just can’t stop picking up the pieces for everyone around you? . Don’t beat yourself up. Try to get curious with yourself, instead. See if you can pause for just a few moments to check in with yourself: Am I lonely? Sad? Overwhelmed? What if I were to just take a day (or a few hours) for myself? When was the last time I really took a moment to journal or pay attention to what I’m feeling? . Remember, change comes with awareness + tiny baby steps. #soulmending . What’s your cue that it’s time to check in with yourself?

STOP, LOOK, AND LISTEN So life has thrown you something that seems impossible for God to fix. Almost immediately, you’ll be tempted to try to protect yourself. Before you do, stop and look: When you stare back, God really looks good, doesn’t He? He’s gotten you through it all. You’re reading this, so you’re still here, after some pretty dicey situations. Now listen: Those are the sounds of you praising Him for His faithfulness. There were many times when you thought He could...n’t come through. But He did. With so much life already in the book, it’s clear: God can handle whatever comes at you. He’s even planned ahead for the curveballs you haven’t seen yet. So, back to that thing life threw your way. Why not face what’s in front of you, betting He’ll probably figure this one out too? Lamentations 3:22-23 Trust For Today devotional by Trueface
