Meet our Capstone team, Embrace! Yanni, Monica, Kristina, and Sofia are all BME seniors graduating this Fall. They are partnered with Mayo Clinic (@MayoExchange...) to create an app that will utilize physical models to improve outcomes and provide empowerment for women with breast asymmetry. At this phase in their project, they are ideating the user interface, user instructions, and creating a testing plan, ultimately aiming to make a personalized solution for every individual. COVID-19 has limited student access to standard design processes, including problem immersion and prototyping resources, across the country. For our Global Heal...th Capstone (GHC) program, these problems are not new. GHC co-founders, Dr. Kelsey Kubelick and Dr. James Stubbs, along with fellow Georgia Tech instructors speak on how they have navigated these problems within GHC and how their solutions can aid current design instruction restrictions incurred by COVID-19: http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s43683-020-00035-8

gtbmecapstone Kelsey Kubelick, PhD, co-founder of Global Health Capstone (GHC), will be detailing the curation of GHC October 15th from 9-10am at BMES. GHC was ...created to develop innovative solutions that address healthcare inequality globally. Over the course of one year, GHC students have the opportunity to make a lasting impact by developing life-saving medical devices specifically created to address the unique clinical needs found in resource-constrained environments. To learn about this process check out Kelsey's poster! Details: Title: Building a Global Health Capstone Program from the Ground Up Authors: Kelsey Kubelick, Rudolph Gleason, James Rains, James Stubbs The live chat with for the poster is on Thursday, October 15, 2020 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. #biomedicalengineering #stem #science #research #medicaldevices #students #healthcare #health #publichealth #education #opportunity #highereducation #innovation #globalhealth #engineering #emory #gatech #design #stemeducation #bmes #medtech #medicaltechnology

In Fall 2019 Capstone created the Student Training for Advancing Technology (STAT) program to integrate hospital credentialing into our design program. 80% of s...tudents voluntarily participated in STAT, drastically increasing student clinical observations and interviews. On October 15th at 10:45 AM through 12:00 PM, Capstone's New Partnership Liason, Kyle Cowdrick, MSE, will give an overview of the program and it's impact on biomedical engineering innovation at BMES during the "BME Programming, Assessment, and Impact," session. Come check out his talk to see how we're increasing student clinical awareness! See more
