Finally!!! Construction of our new plywood warehouse has begun! Thanks to you, our customers, our plywood sales and inventory have increased significantly over the last couple years and we’ve outgrown our old storage building. Looking forward to utilizing the new building soon. Come see us!

With the rising lumber prices it’s rare that you can find a bargain, but here’s one for you. This Longleaf Pine is taking up space in the warehouse and needs to go to a happy home. It’s 3-8 wide x 12’ long and 7/8 thick. We have about 550bf and will let it go for $4.00bf rough or $5.00 planed. If you’re interested give us a call.

We’re gonna rename this part of the building Ambrosia Alley. We just finished surfacing a couple dozen beautiful Ambrosia and spalted Maple live-edge slabs. These are going to go quickly, they’re very nice.

Another unusual find. This abstract Osage Orange slab appears unremarkable until you look a little closer. How did a walnut find it’s way to the middle of the Osage tree?

Sometimes nature delivers a surprise. Long ago a limb was cut from a Walnut tree. The cut healed over and when the tree was slabbed, it revealed what happened those many years ago. These are going to be great conversation starters in someone’s home.

Done! This monster has about 165 board feet and weighs about 1000 lbs. Beautiful Bubinga from Africa. This one has already sold but will be at the store for a few weeks but we have several more to be processed. Drop by and see it, you won’t be disappointed.

Can’t wait to see this big guy flattened and sanded. It’s a live edge Bubinga slab, 17’9 long and 51-58 wide. Trust me, it’s gonna be beautiful. I’ll have some finished pics in a couple days.

The holidays are closer than you think. It’s time to start making your gifts!! This live edge Mesquite charcuterie board would be an excellent gift for someone in your life. We would love for you to visit us today however, our parking lot is being re-paved so you’ll have to use the entrance in the back. Not a problem because just like your home, back door guest are best. Also, this hammer has nothing to do with today but everything to do with this weekend. GO DAWGS!

Although some of the exotic imported wood has been difficult to get lately, we’ve been fortunate to get a new shipment of 4/4 Bloodwood, 4/4 & 8/4 Yellowheart (Movingue) and a pile of beautiful 5/4 Canarywood live edge slabs like the one pictured here. We have a good supply of all these but they won’t last long!

And FINALLY, our part of the progression is complete. The guys in our shop designed and crafted a beautiful Keyhole Trestle table. This table is absolutely beautiful. The stretcher is held in place with wedges in keyholes! These guys ROCK!!! Hopefully we honored this great tree and this heirloom will go to a great home where memories will be made at every meal. A while back we mentioned a progression of an iconic southern tree, a huge Pine. After the tree was cut down, then sliced, we let it bake for a couple weeks in our vacuum kiln. Like so many other slabs, these were flattened on our WoodWizz machine. Next came cuts for sizing, running the edges through the jointer to square them, glueing pieces together, routing and sanding and sanding and more sanding.

Another load of beams out of the kiln. All of these beams are from the pre-1800’s era and are hand hewn with an axe. They make beautiful mantles, benches or tables. Pictures don’t do these justice.

We’re often asked if it’s okay to come by just to browse. This little guy visits us often and has never made a purchase! Come by anytime Mon-Fri 8:00-5:00 and Saturday 8:00-12:00 to look, chat or drool.......like this visitor does!!

This Maple slab has what everyone could possibly want, lots of burl, some voids for epoxy, some spalting but mostly loads of unique character. Truly a unique piece from the Appalachians.

Follow a progression with us. From a standing 150 year old Loblolly Pine, to a log and then sawn slabs. Check back with us over the next few weeks and see what the guys in the shop have in mind for this wood. We think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how they honor this majestic local tree!!
