As we all start to prepare for the Shelter in Place ordered by the State of Georgia we have seen several questions from some of our customers about what is allowable by the state's orders. This morning we received a clarification from one of our trade organizations. While this clarification does state we are a part of the essential business list it also doesn't mean go about normal business. Protect yourself, protect your employees. Practice safe distancing from anyone.... At Thomas Lumber we are still open from 7:30 to 5:00 everyday we have changed our policies here. No one is allowed inside the building except employees. All orders are phone in or emailed to us. Stay in your vehicle if picking up your order. If writing a check or paying with cash, we will give you the total and will pick up the check/cash from your vehicle. We value everyone's well being during this time so please be careful, patient and courteous. It reads: The Shelter-in-Place order issued by Gov. Kemp yesterday was somewhat vague and not particularly restrictive compared to ones we’ve seen in other states. That’s good news for LBM operations trying to stay in business. Gov. Kemp specifically allowed businesses listed under federal guidelines as critical and thus allowed to stay open. That includes LBM and its supply chain. The order also specifically allows construction and remodeling/repair work to continue. Perhaps more importantly, the order supersedes any order issued by a local or county government. We had seen some of these patchwork orders start to get very restrictive in certain areas of the state. Also, it was sometimes difficult to know what restrictions were in place in different jurisdictions. Now, everyone is under the same set of state rules.

At Thomas Lumber we have been busy manufacturing and serving Forsyth County with the best building products since 1927. In that time we have weathered a lot of changing economic factors and each time we have become better from weathering the storms. We take pride in making sure our employees and customers can continue providing for their families. During this time of uncertainty in the county we are not going anywhere while we still are doing our best to keep our employees... with a steady paycheck. We are still open and plan to be open as long as we are considered an essential business by the government. Starting tomorrow at 7:30 AM we will be open as usual but with a few changes to our store policies. Our showroom is closed except by appointment only We will be taking all orders by phone, email, text or private message. All customers are to remain in their cars while we get their order together as we are trying to limit contact between you and our employees. When placing an order we will give you an approximate time for it to be picked up or delivered to your home/job site.
