Today is International Tiger day! International Tiger Day is held annually on July 29 to give worldwide attention to the reservation of tigers. It is both an awareness day and a celebration. It was founded at the Saint Petersburg Tiger Summit in 2010. This was done because at that moment wild tigers were too close to extinction. Many animal welfare organizations pledged to help these wonderful creatures and are still helping to raise funds to reach this goal. The goal of Tiger Day is to promote the protection and expansion of the wild tigers habitats and to gain support through awareness for tiger conservation. Pictured below is our sweet Liska

This is one of our black bears, Honey. Honey will be 22 this year! Her diet here at Tiger Stripes consists of and dry dog food for protein. She loves to sit in her water trough to cool off on hot summer days, but mostly you will find her sleeping on her back with her feet up. Bears have a real sweet tooth and her favorite is marshmallow Peeps but since peeps are seasonal, she’ll settle for regular marshmallows.
