Welcome back, Screaming Eagles! We hope your Winter break was full of rest and renewal, and that you’re eager to take on this semester by pursuing your studies with excellence, spending weeknights cheering on our basketball teams, weekends down by the baseball field, and all of the sunny afternoon pond hangouts in between!

Many students returned from a restful Winter Break to participate in our Winterim semester over the past two weeks. The majority of Winterim students completed Western Thought & Culture, which is one of our core courses that explores the relationship between Christian worldview and the art and thought of Western civilization since the Enlightenment. Other students took Gospel of Matthew, Hermeneutics, Elementary Greek, Genesis, and a small group of Outdoor Leadership & Education students participated in their Expedition Module, which included backpacking through the Gila Wilderness in New Mexico for 10 days! https://tfc.edu//screaming-eagles-wrap-up-winterim-semest/

Winterim semester is well under way here at TFC! Students are able to take 2-week, condensed courses during this time, the main course being our Western Thought & Culture class. We’re glad to have you back, students!

As new students arrive on campus today, we can’t help but look forward with excitement to all of the memories and accomplishments that will be made this Spring semester! Welcome to the fam, students!

Toccoa Falls College is incredibly excited to announce our 2020 Future Scholar, Lily Ann Waldrep! Lily Ann is the daughter of Reed and Amanda Waldrep and she is a senior at West Laurens High School. When asked what she is most excited about for her time at TFC, she said, What excites me the most is the Spirit of God that is so evident on campus. Every staff member, current student, and potential student radiates joy through the love of Jesus Christ, and I could not be more honored to be a part of this amazing community. I am thrilled at the thought of having my faith challenged in new ways and to grow spiritually while fulfilling the Lord’s calling on my life. Lily Ann is planning on joining our Sustainable Community Development program next Fall, and we cannot wait to welcome her! Drop your congratulations in the comments below!

Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Matthew 5:4 How this promise rings true in the history of Toccoa Falls College. Today our hearts ache as we remember the 39 lost in the flood on November 6th, 1977. Their lives are forever etched into our hearts, and our campus was and is forever changed by their loss. Yet we also remember the perseverance and hope displayed by our family in the midst of great tragedy. We are thankful for our local, state, and nation...al community, who comforted us in our time of need and wept with us. We are more specifically thankful for Stephens County, who rallied around us and provided their love and support as we rebuilt our home. We are eternally grateful for our Father, who knew the story of TFC before it was established. He has walked alongside every student, faculty, and staff member as they’ve walked to class, sat in front of the falls in a moment of solitude, and created lifelong friendships and memories in this place. Just as well, He comforted us with His love, provision, and people in our darkest hour. Glory be to God. See more

Enjoy some snapshots from our Rock Climbing class, which is a part of our Outdoor Leadership & Education program! TFC’s OLE program combines adventure, wilderness, camping, and environmental education into one unique program of study. Students are able to research, design and carry-out outdoor education programs that are safe, challenging and rewarding. As Outdoor Leadership and Adventure Education Programs are increasingly being incorporated into many camps, churches, schools and corporate arenas, the demand for qualified and experienced leaders has also increased. TFC is committed to training Christian outdoor leaders with the necessary skills and qualifications to assist them in beginning rewarding careers and life-long ministries in the outdoors.

This video serves as the first installment of our Toccoa Falls History series. We are so excited about this project! https://youtu.be/QWU5Q92OXKU In 2018, the President’s Cabinet of TFC determined that the Founder’s home on campus, which overlooks the historic and beautiful Toccoa Falls, should be designated as the To...ccoa Falls College Museum (Phase I), and approved the construction of the College Archives Annex (Phase II). The Founder’s home, built in the year that TFC began (1911), had more recently served as the Forrest Guest Cottage (1982-2018).
