Baby teeth may be small, but they're important. They act as placeholders for adult teeth. Without a healthy set of baby teeth, your child will have trouble chewing and speaking clearly. That's why caring for baby teeth and keeping them decay-free is so important. Once or twice a day, take a few minutes to clean your baby's mouth. Using a damp wash cloth or gauze, gently wipe the gums, cheeks, and tongue to wipe away any food or liquids. This will help prevent bacteria from gr...owing. Sealants are a great preventative service for teeth with deeper grooves and pits (your molars or back teeth). These deeper pits and grooves are much more prone to cavities because your toothbrush bristles cannot clean out the bacteria deep inside the groove. By using a tooth colored sealant material, we seal up the deeper grooves so that bacteria cannot get in. You have to have these applied when the tooth is in pristine condition which is why they are typically placed as soon as the tooth fully erupts (around 6 years old and 12 years old). #themoreyouknow #sealants #preventativedentistry #towndentistry #womenofdentistry
