You shouldn’t turn to fitness because it is spring time and you want to get in shape for the summer. First, this is a goal that is short-term; what happens when Summer is over? Second, it is an outcome-oriented goal where your sense of success is dependent on whether or not you are "in shape" by that time, or not. ... Thirdly, it is a goal without a measureable metric; how do you know you have achieved your goal?- what does "in shape" mean to you? There are a lot of components missing in a goal like this, and it does not set you up for long-term success. We are not saying having these process-goals, or checkpoints to see where you are in your overall goal is a bad thing! But what we are saying is there should be a broader-picture "goal" - a deep reason for why you are doing it in the first place. What we need to do is cultivate a lifestyle where fitness is just PART of what you do. 1Answer the Question: why is being fit important to you? 2Make it a Daily Habit We need to make fitness part of your daily routine so it isn’t something you have to do in order to get in shape for any particular reason. Fitness should just be something you do We need to build weeks and weeks upon each other, where we remain realistic and flexible but keep the mentality of "this is for the long-haul" in mind There will be ups and there will definitely be downs, but the key is to ride them out as best as possible. After sticking to this for a period of months, then it begins to be routine, and you stop thinking about it. Then fitness is truly a lifestyle for you and no longer a hobby.

For today’s strength portion we are training our standing strict press. The press is a great movement to increase upper body strength as well as core stability, since you have to brace the midline with weight overhead. Here Krystian is demonstrating a nice straight bar path, finishing with the bar directly over her heels in the finish position.

Consistency is the secret sauce for results. In work, life, or the gym, you become what you consistently do. At the start of 2020 we came up with a creative way to reward those members who are the definition of consistency through our monthly committed club. The idea was simple. Log at least 12 workouts in any given month and you’ve joined the committed club. Find your name in the committed club every month for the entire calendar year, and earn an exclusive 2020 Committed Cl...ub T-shirt. We are proud to announce our 2020 Committed Club members who attended at least 12 workouts every single month during 2020. During this especially challenging year, these folks committed to making their health and fitness a priority and have achieved amazing results in the past year. Congratulations to this awesome group, and we look forward to welcoming even more members to this list in 2021. Let’s get to work! See more
