How are we celebrating/remembering our dignity today? I spent the morning lying around listening to Gwendolyn Brooks read her poems to me. It’s so good to be Black. . #blackliturgies #juneteenth

Every Wednesday at noon, Trinity holds a Wednesday Witness to honor the black lives killed by police brutality or for simply having black skin. Our bells will ring to honor those who remain nameless, we will speak the names of those we know about. We at Trinity want to acknowledge the role we, as an institution and as individuals, have played in perpetuating white supremacy. Moving forward we commit to listening and educating ourselves and to taking action in the dismantling of white supremacy. Join us here online at noon.

"We forget that both men [Jesus & Martin Luther King, Jr.] were seen as radical and that both men were seen as a threat to power. And if we continued to look into their lives and what they said, would still be threats to those in power [today]."

Today we are still Trinity. Today we still love and care for our neighbors. Today we still gather on our steps to pay witness to those who have died at the hands of police brutality due to the color of their skin. If you would like to join us we meet at 11:50 am on the steps of Trinity UMC. We wear mask and are finished by 12:20. No matter the outcome of the election we will still be Trinity.
