Master Ugui was very wise. We can all use the reminder that today "is a gift".
We still need 3-4 people for a qigong/taichi photography session today at 11am. Models would only be needed for about an hour. Location is our home studio. No experience in qigong needed. You will just be filling in as "students" in a mock class. Snacks provided.
Volunteers needed! for a qigong photoshoot this Saturday 11am. Need 3-4 people to be qigong models. Message if interested please.Volunteers needed! for a qigong photoshoot this Saturday 11am. Need 3-4 people to be qigong models. Message if interested please.
"There would be different ways to do it. Imagine, if we cut back to fewer than two and a half ounces per day by serving smaller portions of meat and replacing some meat-centric entrees with plant-based alternatives, like lentils, beans and nuts. More diverse sources of protein could open new possibilities for local food. Nutrition research tells us that there could be some health benefits, too,"
Today is World Suicide Prevention Day... So here’s a note from your favorite therapist... Life is hard. Really hard. ... This is why I wear underwear on my head! Boobie Crowns make me feel better to get through the hard. Sometimes life is so hard that people don’t want to do the hard anymore. It’s not so much that they actually want to die... It’s that they want the suffering to stop. I used to think that there were only certain kinds of people who were suicidal. In my time being a licensed therapist thus far, I figured out that that’s all bullshit... I’ve seen people, normal people, that want to die who did not have a mental health diagnosis...they were just overwhelmed with the hard... Hmmm this would mean that we all may have more in common than we think... If there’s ONE thing we can all agree on it’s this: Life IS hard. Life is REALLY hard! Now, my hard might be different than your hard. We all go through our own version of hard. Divorce, losing a job, a death, hunger, a move, starting something new, having a baby, not being able to have a baby, forgiveness, saying goodbye, not getting the green apple blow pop, being wrong, caretaking, trauma, in-laws, sticking up for ourselves, getting dressed in the morning, losing your keys, being brave, going through breast cancer treatment, twice... Our hards are different but they FEEL the same. Right?!?! If you’re having a hard time with your hard, whatever hard that might be, I feel you and you are not alone. When we bought this ticket for this JOYride, we also accepted the fine print of the ride: This JOYride may cause pain, sorrow, turmoil, depression, anxiety, and grief... But it’s worth it. I do believe that there are WAY more good things, beautiful things, than there are hard things. So remember to be grateful for those who are still here embracing the hard with us AND to help someone that doesn’t think they can do the hard any longer. Let’s be human again and remind those that feel lost that they CAN. They can do the hard. #WorldSuicidePreventionDay The Boobie Queen Company

Well, this news is very exciting!! I've been studying the patterns (allopathic and energetic) of Parkinson's for a while. This is a form of nerve damage and shares the etiology of Multiple Sclerosis. Apparently, tea leaves contain the chemical Theophylline which, in small doses, enables the regeneration of the myellin sheath on axons. Wow! This is great news. And will certainly lay the foundation for therapies to assist all types of nerve conditions. As always, qigong is a great way to keep the blood circulating and stimulate the nerves to help your body heal and repair naturally. Sounds like we need to have a cup of tea after class to support the healing. Cheers!
Fructose is a sweetener used in processed foods, and is the parent of High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS), which is pervasive in the USA. Prolonged consumption of Fructose or HFCS causes a breakdown in the lining of the intestine allowing toxins to enter the blood stream, and eventually injure the Liver. Check your food labels and try to choose products which are as close to how nature intended them, to preserve your intestinal health. Foods that have not been processed or enhanced with chemicals or "food-like substances" are easier to digest by the enzymes your body naturally produces. Reduce gas, bloating, indigestion, headaches, joint pain, constipation, facial redness and water retention by eating healthy. And then do some qigong! :)
Kitkat takes care of the classroom when we're not teaching! Lol.
Scrolling through the internet this morning checking out who is doing what with qigong. Friends, beware of teachers with "grandiose" and "blanket" statements, who teach on stereotypes, who use words like "always" and "never", or people teaching "T/Daoist Arts" who actually have no lineage in T/Daoism. Do your research and ask a ton of questions.

Join Peyton for an 8 week journey into the practice of the 8 Pieces of Brocade Starting September 1st, 2020! The Eight Silk Brocade is a beautiful compilation of 8 movements that stretch and relax the body’s tissues and meridians promoting smooth circulation of qi and blood throughout the entire body. It is a form that is based on slow stretching movements which place more emphasis on how the body moves than other forms of Qigong which require focusing more on breath control ...or visualizations. The simplicity of the eight movements allows it to be quickly learned and easily practiced. A great place to start it also holds many secrets that when unlocked add depth and a lifetime of practice. In this course you will learn: History Warm up and cool down Each movement of the 8 Pieces of Brocade Standing meditation Breathing queues Recommended practice schedule Modifications More Course Information: This course is open to all levels This will be a online virtual class using ZOOM as the meeting space Classes start at 6 pm EST on September 1st, 2020 and meet every Tuesday for 8 weeks https://therisinglotus.com/8-pieces-brocade-qigong/

Finding it hard to stay motivated? The amount of glutamine and glutamate may be part of the reason. The analysis revealed that the key to performance -- and, by extension, motivation -- lies within the ratio of two neurotransmitters in the nucleus accumbens: glutamine and glutamate. Specifically, the ratio of glutamine to glutamate relates to our capacity for maintaining performance over a long period of time -- what the researchers term "stamina." "The findings provide novel... insights in the field of motivation neuroscience," says Carmen Sandi. "They show that the balance between glutamine and glutamate can help predict specific, computational components of motivated performance. Our approach and data can also help us develop therapeutic strategies, including nutritional interventions, that address deficits in effort engagement by targeting metabolism." https://www.sciencedaily.com/releas/2020//200812201327.htm
Here's another way to handle the stress....

A recent study published by the JAMA, reveals that "a greater amount of sedentary time was associated with a higher risk of cancer mortality. Replacing sedentary time with light- or moderate- to vigorous-intensity physical activity was associated with reduced cancer mortality risk." Let's go do some qigong!!!! https://jamanetwork.com/jo/jamaoncology/fullarticle/2767093?

Doing 30 minutes of cardio every day is a good idea for a whole host of reasons, including cardio's ability to burn calories, boost immunity, promote stress management, release feel-good hormones, and help you get a good night's sleep. Plus, while doing 30 minutes of cardio every day will definitely help improve your mental strength and endurance, the exercise will undoubtedly improve your physical strength and endurance levels, as well.

Happy Earth Day from The Rising Lotus Qigong. Here is a quick meditation for grounding and reconnecting to Mother Earth on this special day.
Take a moment today to honor Mother Earth, our sustenance and life giving home. We depend on the energy and gifts of our planet to survive on a daily basis. In this world all life is precious and necessary to protect the delicate balance of the global ecosystem. Our choices on a daily basis make a difference. From the foods we eat to the activities we engage in, all actions make an impact on the plants, animals and constitution of our natural world. If you are already a ligh...tworker in this realm, help others understand how important it is to discard trash properly, to choose less packaging on products, to travel more consciously, to be a smarter consumer. Our world is changing every day. Our global pandemic has highlighted how much of an impact we have on the welfare of the planet. We are seeing animals come out of distant hiding places to roam the cities, waters in lakes, rivers and oceans are clearing up, turtles are nesting on beaches. All of the creatures of this planet are important and deserve a safe place to live. Let's find ways to live in harmony with all of creation. Happy Earth Day See more

Sometimes, you need to do things "just because". When the lights are setup for filming qigong, but dinner time rolls around... well, an impromptu cooking show happens. Enjoy some Chilaquiles. Why? Just because.
Here is a video of Pulling Down Heavens using internal neigong flow. Notice the rippling of the spine, and full body movement. The closing at the end is intended to bring Qi back to center. More details in our online classes.
Having fun on a Friday. Thanks to my son for doing a great job with the video. Have fun, stay healthy!

Happy New Year to all. With every new year, we are excited by the freshness of new possibilities and what the future may hold. It is the mark of a new timeline which everyone on the planet observes. It is perhaps, a single thing, besides our humanity, which can bring us together on a single day? My new Year began on the Winter Solstice, as that is my personal day of new beginnings, growth and celebration. Since the 21st, I have spent several days in rest and recovery, cont...emplating what the next decade may mean to me, how may I invest my time and what goals might I want to achieve? In looking forward, I looked far into the past and reconnected with parts of myself which have been forgotten, or silenced, or diminished. It was the recollection of thoughts and memories of my childhood which highlighted the fact that, not much has really changed in my almost 49 years. On the slow train to New Orleans, I started writing 2 books. One which will be done quickly and another which may take some time. In this creative energy a red leather bound hand made notebook manifested in a store for magick and alchemy. Nothing is a coincidence and the Universe operates in mysterious ways and I am guided to reconnect with the creative river of energy which flows within. Besides writing, I am also called to do more dedicated work on an energetic level, it's a special project for our global community, yet a simple task in which anyone can participate. It simply lies in praying/meditating/manifesting peace and positivity for our world. If you care to join, each day, at a specific time, we will be sending waves of positive energy to cover our globe. If you're interested in participating in this daily devotional, please respond or message us. We'll make a group for it. For now, I wish everyone a beautiful start to the year. Please focus on what is important, take a moment each day to share a positive vibration with your community. Love one another. Let the shackles of anger and depression melt away. Forgive. Love - yourself. May 2020 be bright and beautiful. And may you be blessed with the gifts you deserve. May the creator fill your life with love and peace.
