Love this simple reminder about self-compassion. We can treat ourselves the way that we would treat a friend going through a hard time.....with kindness, grace and patience. #selfcare #wellness #resiliency #mentalhealthawareness #therapyworks | www.jinityler.com

Are you listening to that inner critic......those thoughts that can lead to self-doubt, create challenges in relationships or stifle performance at work and/or school? Well, the good news is that we don’t have to believe this internal bully, we can take steps to strengthen self-compassion and replace these thoughts with healthy ones (here are some examples). #selfcompassion #youmatter #mentalhealthawareness #wellness #resilience #selfcare #therapy | www.jinityler.com

I often talk with people about working through fear and reaching their goals in spite of fear. We don’t need to erase the fear in order to change. The reality is: We can have fear AND achieve... We can have fear AND create We can have fear AND grow We can have fear AND just be Fear does not have to be a barrier any longer!! #mentalhealthawareness #fearandanxiety #selfcare #youmatter #wellness #resiliency | www.jinityler.com

This week has been very emotional for many of us. I have gone through my own range of emotions related to the horrific death of George Floyd which highlighted the repeated acts of violence and injustices against people of color, in particular black men. It’s very personal for me for many reasons, but as a mental health professional, I wanted to shed some light on the racial trauma impacting communities of color. Racial trauma is traumatization due to experiences of racism, di...scrimination and/or microaggressions. These can be isolated experiences or the accumulation of many occurrences. If you have or are experiencing racial trauma, please reach out for help. There are ways to manage the symptoms in a healthy manner (see some tips below) and acknowledgement and validation go a long way, too! #racialtrauma #wellness #resiliency #selfcare #youmatter #therapy #mentalhealth #blackmentalhealthawareness | www.jinityler.com See more

I’ve been talking with a lot of people who are describing feelings related to ambiguous loss in the midst of COVID-19. Ambiguous loss is a term developed by Dr. Pauline Boss in the 1970’s and describes the reactions we feel when there is no clear end to the loss. Here are some tips to keep in mind if you’re feeling stressed, sad, angry, worried and/or irritable during this time: Name what you are feeling and allow yourself to feel the range of emotions. These are normal rea...ctions. While some things are very different, celebrate what remains constant (ex: time with family/friends - zoom counts , regular aspects of your routine). Discover new hope for the future. If we accept the uncertainty in the present, we can allow ourselves to imagine hope in the future. Pay attention to what you’re doing well. No matter how big or small, we all have successes that we can notice. Schedule an appointment with a Therapist. Many of us are offering telehealth options and can help guide you through the process of managing emotions related to ambiguous loss. #griefandloss #mentalhealth #wellness #resiliency #youmatter #selfcare #hope #therapy | www.jinityler.com

I love this quote by the great Audre Lorde. Self-care is vital to our mental health and well-being. What are you doing today to make self-care a priority? I’ll start......I’m going on a scenic walk to enjoy this beautiful weather, then listening to some 90’s music on my porch #youmatter #selfcareisessential | www.jinityler.com
